Well, not that weird. The only funny thing is that he keeps his racquet up while making the whole movement. But from the time hes flexing his legs, seems pretty normal to me.

Alot of south americans use that motion, I don't see anything wrong with it, it requires much less coordination and makes for a more precise ball toss.

He's the first seed for this challenger tournment. I hope he does well there. Btw, his serve is funny, period

Most tennis instructors teach, hands down together then up together. Like the Argentine Zabaleta, the racquet hand eliminates the first step. Zabaleta who last played the Aussie Open and retired due to injury, had a decent serve.

Monaco, also from Tandil (like Zabaleta), also uses an abbreviated motion, ALA Zabaleta :p

I think Fillipo Volandri is a weird serve too.

No kidding: my 7o year old uncle serves like that, most men his age do.

Zabaleta was the first player of note to use that motion and many South Americans like Berlocq followed.

Zheng Jie from China has a similar serve, although she doesn't start with her racquet that high up.

The rest of his motion looks pretty good to me after the toss...

It doesn't really matter what you do up to the point where both the ball and the racquet are up above the head. After that, his serve is pretty conventional. I like his nice Roddickesque snap-down of the racquet head.

I know this really has nothing to do with it but Berlocq is killing this guy
