Are they forced because it is in the contract??

Because they are getting paid to do so. Some players who get dropped by their clothing company will wear their racquet company's clothing probably because they can get it for free.

But I would say the players you mentioned are being paid a separate clothing contract by Yonex. So with them its all about the benjamins.

so they can get one big check from one place instead of two big checks from different places.

btw.. i don't see anything wrong with the Yonex line... I think the orange Nalbandian shirt is very Roland Garroishhh.

I think the Yonex apparel is nice. I still wish TW could have gotten that Orange shirt Nalbandian wore at the Masters Cup. I like the one hes wearing at Roland Garros now.

ive tried on a pair of yonex tennis shoes...
they are VERY comfortable... so i dont see what the big deal is...

Very true. And don't forget with young players with young fan-bases, like hewitt, image is everything too. Of course he's willing to wear the bright colours, the funky shoes, whatever - as not only does it build sponsorship $$ from existing sponsors, it also builds profile for potential future sponsors too: Brighter, more out there = more attention grabbing = more photos in papers, more TV time = more sponsors....and the circle goes 'round....

Don't see why everyone needs to conform with what everyone's wears. Yonex apparel does their thing and its cool, different and refreshing. It may look ugly to you and not to others! I am sure others could say the same thing about Nike and Adidas.... got to have one dark horse in the mix - to stand out! And from the sounds of it - its working.

Yonex market is concentrated mostly in Europe and Asia. It's not a popular brand in the US.

The pros don't care if it's ugly, as long as the company their wearing are paying all of their traveling,dining,hotel,etc. expenses.

only yonex apparel i like are the simple t-shirts that say yonex on them or the short sleeve ones. Other than that, they should stick to making racquets (HUGE rds 001 fan)
