This guy is playing Ljubicic and grunting after the ball leaves his strings and crosses the net! That reminds me of Kuerten's awful grunt which was just as ill-timed. Why doesn't his coach tell him that grunting after striking the ball will do nothing in terms of explosive power. The martial artists started it, to good effect, and you'll never see them strike a blow and then grunt so why does Hidalgo as well as a few others? You think he would get a clue especially since with all his poorly timed grunting he is striking the ball noticibly less hard then Hingis on a bad day.

Too funny, I was just watching the match and noticing the same thing. Very annoying.

I have some contractors coming to the house this morning and I am going to have to turn down the volume because it sounds like I am watching hours of porn-seriously! Just close your eyes and listen- bad porn movie.

I've seen players do this. I think the purpose is to distract their opponents.

He can keep the grunts if he just pulls his sleeve out! Seriously one shirt tucked in and one out?!?!?!!? I remember him doing that at another tournament this year also, another mark off on the fashion game in pro tennis.

It is very annoying to play against delayed grunters. It can really mess up your timing and concentration. Umpires refuse to address the issue, though.
