Thought it was funny when espn flashed this stat(comparing nadal's clay streak to other surface streaks)
Apparently Mac won 65 straight on carpet from '83-'85. Wonder if he's even aware of this.
Since there are virtually no carpet events these days, this streak looks unlikely to be broken.

To have that kind of streak in a time with so many S&V players is extremely impressive. Johnny Mac was awesome, I'm really getting annoyed that nobody comes to net anymore.

Almost no carpet anymore, and no soft grass either. What do you expect?

Well faster surfaces were pretty common back then 20 years ago. Several Masters tournaments (besides Paris and the year-ender) were played on indoor hardcourts. This is of course no longer the case, with moderate and slower surfaces becoming more prevalent.

Slower surfaces are becoming more prevelent because the racquets are enabling peopel to hit the ball harder.
