(remove the XX)

I like the reaction from Fed too! Those who saw the match know it was the turning point, as Fed said himself later.

Due to popular demand, its been uploaded to youtube as well - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WUe-bhadfY

Couple of things to note -

1. every other player on the planet would've gone for the tweener
2. the scary thing is Fed was actually aiming down the line

Love it. Fedi's improv skills are the greatest. Wonder what Daveed was thinking at the time....

"D'accord, je suis up a set and a break against the about-to-be 3rd best claycourt player in the world. I just hit an okay drop and a good lob, Rogi's off balance behind the baseline, I'm ready to angle off this ball and get one step closer to a two set lead. One step at a time...animo!
Ay cabron! WTF?!
I feel pain in my a.......a...bdominal.
Ah Dios mio, pleaseplease please do not let this be the turning point."

i haven't seen all the shots of the tourney, but when i saw fed slap that ball down the line, i was like "SWEEEEET!"

the cool part was when the lob went over him, he sort of ducked his head and started motoring, like, "oh, SNAP" . . . like, he wasn't expecting much (and neither was i). i should've known better.

That shot was pretty good, but not spectacular. I was a million times more impressed with the drop he hit on the rise in the 2nd or 3rd set. I don't think I've ever seen that.

I agree on both counts. Subconsciously, that match point he blew vs Safin at the 05 Oz Open may have had something to do with the choice to not go between the legs. All in a flash.

Seriously, if I ever hit a great shot, I'm going to raise my hand and point a finger at the sky too (and look unfortunately not as cool)

It's sick. I just don't know how he does it.
If I could have gotten back to that lob, I would have probably just got back and tired to flick it back on with a backhand.
But no.
He runs back and does his best ice skating imitation. He slides and while sliding turns in perfect balance and hits an underspin forhand down the line.
Absolutely sick.

You know it's good when Fed celebrates his own shot.

that was not a lucky shot, that was just a show so make the ball pass, i bet fed did not think it was oing to become a winner, but the ball got really hooked into the strings and the frame which gave it awesome speed and spin

Go to the RG Official site and watch Day 13 highlights. There is a close-up in slow motion there.

He hit like 6 winners in a row at that stage. It was unbelievable. That's the frustrating thing about Federer; he can either play really awful tennis, or he can create magic out there.

One of the best shots i have seen.

I thought that forhand slice crosscourt was pretty nice as well. I didnt think he would touch and he hit a winner.

Nice shot but what's the big deal? Andy Roddick made the exact same shot two years ago in Cincy:

It would not matter if Andy did that shot twice in a row, twice as well, twice as close to the line and twice as hard. He'd get ragged for trying it and ragged for looking less than graceful. Ragged Andy.

No way Roddick makes that shot if the draw wasn't rigged in his favor!

I like the "no look" shot at the Aussie.

That's totally what I do in that position all the time. [snort]

The shot he hit after running all the way back looks better than most of the forehands he hits nowadays.
