Taken a while to get my hands on some, but imagine my surprise when I started hitting with a magic "O" in place to find it rattlin' and buzzin' on off centre hits. Anyone else come across this and are there any fixes? I guess Pete never had this problem because he never hit off centre. Thanks.

Sounds like a "bleak" string job or maybe & I say maybe a bad frame.

Thanks Kirko but I can rule that out. No rattle without the Sampras O and no rattle with a Bab High Damp. Rattle is probably the wrong word, sort of dull buzz ... it's definitely the O. Almost seems to be too hard a plastic for the strings. I'm going to trim the very edges and see if that helps ....

The Sampras O made a horrible noise in my racquet too.

I swapped it for a grommet from a diy store and the noise went.

i had that problem in my pro staff 6.0 95, worked fine in my PD+, i switched to a rubber band and then to no dampener hehe.

Tried my modified (slightly trimmed) "O" yesterday - no luck. Still buzzin about the place. Put a "W" in instead and it was as sweet as a nut. Tried the "O" in my T90 and it was fine there ... wierd or what?

I have used the PS "O" for years and I love it. I have never had any problems with it. I cannot understand at all what could be causing it to "rattle" in your racket.

USE THE HOME DEPOT OR THE OSH HARDWARE RUBBER CABLE GROMMETS.....THEY ARE A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER.....

i think they used to ship some "O"s with tournagrip. They seemed to be a lot more stiffer and i did not like them. Others are softer. I second going go the hardware store.

I only use the Sampras O's after trying out all kinds. I don't care much for the store bought cable grommets at all. Even the purple Luxilon one is not that great. But we all feel different things out there and hit the ball differently. Combine this with different racquets and strings and you will get various preferences. Try out a few dampener's and stick with something that feels right in your gut.

I hated the Sampras O's. Sometimes I wonder if HE even uses it. They are way too stiff to do a good job of absorbing vibrations. It's like half plastic, half rubber. JUNK!

sounds like a crack in the frame somewhere.

You can buy automobile firewall grommets in different sizes at auto parts store. If your strings are more widely spaced, you can buy a larger size grommet. Very inexpensive as well.

The stuff you get at home depot is not quite the same. those are cable grommets made for the purpose of protecting cables. They use a softer rubber and do not feel the same as the Sampras O, and they fly out very easily.
