so check out this video . I can't hear it clear... but as for what the subtitle says, Rafael Nadal is calling Gaudio a "Sudaca" during this match in montecarlo. not very nice... but I wonder if it's just a little creation of the argentine TV, as I can't hear the word .

the audio is terrible. The only thing I can make out is when nadal says "Yo no he hecho nada..." which means "I haven't done anything..."

I speak spanish but I have no idea what "sudaca" means. I can't hear it either... but what does "sudaca" mean?

Do a Google search. It's supposed to be an offensive term for South Americans who have immigrated to Spain.

I can't hear the supposed last sentece "Callate sudaca gil" but the expression "gil" is a sudamerican expression not a spanish expresion.
Any spanish would say "gil", he would say "gilipollas" or something so.
It's curious that we can hear the whole dialog except the offensive sentence.
I don't believe anything.

What Nadal says at the end (if he says something) is totally unintelligible (in fact, it's inaudible).

But, as some have pointed, it's very unlikely that Nadal said "gil". Any Spaniard would have said "gilipollas", not "gil", that word is not used in Spain.

"Sudaca" is actually a Spanish (from Spain) word, is a disparaging word meaning "South American". Although merely a contraction of the words "South American", it has clear disparaging connotations when used during an argument. But you can't hear it on that video by any mean.

By the way, the last subtitle seems a total invention from the TV channel.

You mean Spanish people who emigrated to South America??

In the recent years many South Americans emigrated to Spain, doing the inverse path that many Spaniards did in the 30's. 40's, 50's and before.

Its just a despective word for "southamericans". Mostly used by spanish.
Icant heat anything BTW. But I wouldnt be surprised if Nadal reacted calling Gaudio "Sudaca" after what he told nadal. You can tell Gaudio is ****ed.

What was their fight about?

Don't really know, I'll try to translate the audible part despite my Nadalesque English:

GAUDIO: Don't play dumb. Don't be a smartass.
NADAL: I did nothing.
GAUDIO: Don't be a smartass, I'm just telling you.

(both sit down, Nadal is supposed to make an angry face or something)

GAUDIO: Don't make that face to me because I'm serious. Don't be a smartass.
NADAL: But I did nothing.
GAUDIO: Don't make that face to me, I'm just telling you.

The last sentence is inaudible, but Nadal is "supposed" to say "Shut up, you sudaca @ss*** ".

Well, Spaniards haven't stopped migrating to Latin America. So, it's like an exchange of population.

Yes, they have stopped. Just a matter of demography, though.

I have no clue what he has said, but I give him the benefit of the doubt because he has not spoken poorly of other players before, at least to the best of my knowledge. For his age, he says the right things, is humble in victory, and gracious in defeat. Both qualities some players never develop with many more years of experience due to their upbringing. I suspect the Nadal's did a good job with him to keep him centered.

very much true... though I very much dislike the term sudaca I think Nadal had the right to say anything to Gaudio for the way he addressed him. "no te hagas boludo"... wasn't nice at all. but from that to use racist comments there's a long way. but again, lo de sudaca no lo oigo.

It's funny, I didn't hear what was supposedly said. Gaudio is a hothead to begin with so I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to get inside Nadal's head because he was losing perhaps. Try to intimidate him with words, he was 18 then. But to finish off, these guys are actually pals. They play PS2 together and talk outside of the courts.

You know, Gaudio is an interesting character. A supremely talented clay court specialist, he always wears a smile on his face after that beautiful backhand winners but it seems like his smiles are not geniune. I don't know what his reputations are like in South America but I respect him as a player. I appreciate what he brings to the game. But it seems like he doesn't get along with Coria and Nadal. Muy interesante...

hey I like your sig. .... Oscar Wilde has great lines.. I remember one (forgot from what book) but it goes like; "nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing".. he's a very clever guy, and very straight forward, I like to read his stuff.

Gaudio is a great claycourter. It annoyed me that, after the Gaudio-Coria FO final, some ignorant posters said that it was "two nobodies in a final".

The TENNIS CHANNEL showed a match were Nadal felt that Gaudio got to a ball on the second bonce , but did not admit it when asked. That might be the reason for the heat in this clip.
As for the comments being RACIST, I'll leave that to folks who have a better command of Spanish than I.
