View Full Version : Effects of Airmail on Racquet strings?

I am thinking of trying out some high end strings and also buying another racquet. Is it better to buy the racquet and string separately? If I have TW string the racquet; will the shipping affect the tension and playability when it reaches me?

It could very well have an effect. There was an article in Tennis Magazine a little over a year ago about whether or not to check you strung racquet or to carry it on when flying.
The word is: carry it on. While the plane is sitting on the runway, the cargo hold can reach very high temps, just like the trunk of a car. Strings in a frame really dislike heat.

I have had shipped 4 or 5 i.x6's from the US to Australia strung with Intelligence strings and they weren't affected. Tension was perfect and the life of the string was still excellent. Just my experience with that one string :)
