(That title alone will give this thread about 50+ views by itself) Anyway, call me crazy but despite her knee bend, does it look like her serve is mostly arm? Something about it throws me off but it looks like she is arming each serve.

Yeah, she arms a lot of things.
She was making love with her boyfriend and he was like, "Come on Masha, I like the screams, but you're totally arming this."

they say she's still adapting to her size, so i wouldnt doubt if her form on every shot is lacking. she's probably really working the arm on her serve until she can properly utilize the rest of her body to its fullest potential.

Nice explanation, but it does not help the boyfriend very much.

I dont buy into that. That seems too generic to say.

i dont know man, she's grown another 2 inches and that size can be tough to carry around the court. she could really use her size to more of an advantage on her serve though. i expect her serve to get a lot better in the future.

How bad can her serve be and how much is she really "arming" it when Drysdale has shown it in slow motion, on several occasions in other events, stating that her serve is "textbook" and "perfect"?

She looks like she has no weapons unlike Davenport. She is tall and u would think her forehand would be a huge weapon.

It is. Didn't you watch any of her matches? She hits some huge forehands.

Hey savy, its not huge enough. She will need to work on that serve. Her groundstrokes dont penetrate alot unlike a Davenport.

I dont think so, I think that there is too much energy lost somewhere in her serve and I think it's that whole arm thing. Like she just jumps and muscles it.

I would have to agree with Drysdale, as well as ALL the other commentators, who have said that Sharapova has one of the great serves on the tour.

Dementieva complained after the match about Sharapova's shrieking grunts.--This was according to the story on ESPN.com. Do you know that Sharapova's results fall off when she doesn't shriek during the point. When she lost to Serena last year in Australia, she lost most of the points when she wasn't shrieking.

It looks like she has pretty good shoulder rotation and also good pronation of the wrist. Many of the men get better shoulder rotation, but even some men don't. Besides, she's worked on her slice a lot (so it seems) and her serve seem effective.
