I have been doing a lot of experimentation with strings lately.

I love Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power, but was trying to find something that played just as well, but was cheaper.

I tried Luxilon Big Banger Original, Klip K-Boom, Unique Tourna Poly Big Hitter, and Gamma Zo Life.

I strung all at the same tension (61 M / 59 X) and always had a raquet strung with ALU Power to compare.

1) Unique Big Hitter - Had excellent power, control, and spin when freshly strung. Became a rocket launcher with no control and little spin after just a few hours of hitting.

2) Luxilon Big Banger Original - Very spin friendly and low powered string. It didn't have enough power for me. Has a spongy feel.

3) Klip K-Boom - Close in power level to ALU Power, but I got much less spin with it. Has a nice soft feel.

4) Gamma Zo Life - Absolute rubbish. Has zero power and spin and vibrates like a jackhammer when you hit the ball.

Bottom line: When played back to back with ALU Power, none of these strings really come close.

So what are you going to do now? bite the bullet and spend for the ALU power?

Yes, unfortunately,

I just got a reel of it. I'll see how long it lasts, but I may start using some string savers.

Suggestions are welcome; I'll probably go through this reel in a month.

Does anyone know when the TF Pro Redcode is coming to the U.S.?

I'll let you know tomorrow. I have to order some stuff from TF as I ran out of NRG.

Also, you didn't spend retail cost for the reel did you?

I bought the reel at TW. I wasn't aware of how to get it less than retail cost. Do you know how to get it cheaper?

Dunlop has a new poly coming out made in Germany, keep an eye out for that, both in 16 and 17 gauge. It's going to be called Dynamite from what I am told.

I just got off the phone with TF and they have the red code here. Set by set, it is as expensive as ALU power but the reel is reallly cheap, which makes me kind of happy

I suggest you try Polystar Energy 1.25mm @ 64/62 and Signum Pro Poly Megaforce 1.24mm @ 61/59 and get back to us. Both are under $9.

What about Signum Megaforce? Comes to $6 per set in a reel. I 've been using it for a month and cant say anything bad about it. Better than hurricane 18 in pretty much every aspect.
