This just in from the president of the International Tennis Federation:

"We have today been assured in writing by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science that no tennis players, either Spanish or foreign, are under investigation," ITF president Francesco Ricci Bitti said.

"We feel that it is unfair and unfortunate that tennis players, including Rafael Nadal, have been named, erroneously, as under investigation. All top players are tested regularly under the Tennis Anti-Doping Program and are very aware of the rules of the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) Code."

Nadal is now considering suing the French newspaper that started the rumor! Sounds like Lance Armstrong smear tactics all over again.

He might be more prone to tell them to print a public apology and retraction. That, IMO, would be better PR for him.

Sounds like this board led the investigation. This is what happens when you're the best and you know it, and everybody is trying to take you down because the media darling is failing to beat you.

I don't really know what to say, but people are definitely trying to bring him down. There is this, and there has always been the haters saying his muscles aren't natural. Then there are the people who complain about the time he takes between points, and blame their losses on this. Then of course, there is complaining going on about his positive celebrations on court. Since he doesn't have a classic game like Federer, and is unorthodox according to some, there will always be haters. These are the same people that never liked Agassi (or in his earlier years) and the people that hated Seles.
