I was wondering what most tennis players thought of holding the racquet where the butt of the racquet is toward the middle of the palm, vs. where it is traditionally held (where the whole hand is holding the racquet).
I played around with this grip yesterday, and noticed an extreme difference in regards to accessing my wrist potential for creating power and spin. Of course, I think my control jumped in a car nearby and rode off somewhere, but the power of hitting this way is kind of intriguing and addictive. Also, I noticed in some pics of some professionals, and it seems that they hit this way. Here are some examples.

I am sure this has been discussed before, and if so, if you could give me a reference term to use when searching threads, I would appreciate it.
I do have some questions, though. Is this a good idea for non-professionals who don’t have their type of control? Are there any pros out there that don’t hold a racquet this way or do they simply hit both ways? Last but not least, is this grip necessary for advanced tennis levels? Thanks for any input………..
