i want to settle the confusion regarding the effect of higher or lower tension on durability of strings. this is in general for all racquet head size, string pattern and strings.

if anyone got experience regarding my case, 95 sq in, 18x20, Lux BB O, feel free to give advice for tension that maximise durability (between 50 and 63 lbs).

The softer the strings and tension, the more give the strings have resulting it less notching and a lower chance of breakage on shanks.

the question doesn't allow to answer:
- lower tension (50-54lbs)
- higher tension for crosses (2-5lbs difference)

One case of high tension snapping strings sooner: I usually string around 60 lbs, except when I was using a string with too much power (Prince Lightning XX) and I strung it at 70 lbs. I snapped one set in under two hours and another in under 5 hours of practice, not even match play. These were to two shortest string lives I've ever had. Needless to day, I switched to a new string and lower tension shortly thereafter.

Most strings, when you string lower - they start moving and notching. Luxillon strings never seen to move. You probably could string these lower and they wouldn't slide around. Poly's are a unique breed of string. You almost have to experiment to see if it works for you. Log the hours played and don't misshit any overheads...

Yeah I have Luxilon strung at 52 and they move a lot less than Prince Syn Gut at 60

so u think 50 lbs for mains and 52-55 lbs for crosses will maximise durability for me (Lux BB O)?

with yr experience give me a number for the tension of the crosses (between 52 and 55 lbs of course).

btw what string and racquet head size and string pattern u have?
