View Full Version : Tennis footages from the 80's look like they were shot in slow motion.

I wasn't too interested in tennis during those eras but when they show footages from those eras the ball looks a lot slower back then. Also the players look taller. Is it because the cameras were inferior back then or the players?

Um, how about watching one of the matches on DVD? Borg/McEnroe's 1980 Wimby final looked pretty fast to me. The racquets were weak, strings were weak, balls were light, courts were fast, players were great. It made the perfect combination. You couldn't just flick your wrist and hit the ball deep back then like Nadal does, you actually had to put some muscle into it or charge the net.

Players wore real shorts. If Federer were to wear real shorts, his legs would lok much longer.

Thanks, that explains why the players look taller but how about the slow motion part?

Maybe the slow motion has to do something with the camaras back then.
