head tape usually goes across the top of your racket on the bumper. not really that neccessary inless you scrape your racket 24/7. i used it before, didn't really find it helpful just rips as soon as it scrapes a little

I have some on right now. It rips so fast, don't even bother. It's plastic...only thing i can compare it to is like the plastic that comes on toys from kids' meals at mcdonalds or burger king or something.

Head tape is sueful only when used in layers otherwise it will rip pretty easily. Also the thicker the better, particuliary Wilson. It does a good job at protecting the sides of the frames and the exposed parts of the head. However you only really need it if you don't want to see a scratch on your frame but value the point more.

Head tape is good, use it. By using head tape, you won't scratch your bumper guard when you pick up balls and scrape (lightly) the floor. Meaning, your raquets will be worth more, should you want to sell them.

why would you wanna spend money on head tape if you could just replace the grommet for under $5. plus even with head tape you would still get scratches on the bumper guard, because it rips so quickly, except if you change the bumper guard everyday

I use both Gamma and Wilson Head tape, and after a couple of sets I look at the head and think "man im glad those marks arent on my racquet...

I would definitely reccommend using it. There are some pretty nasty scratches and rips on my tape that I'm real glad aren't on my racquet. Of course, it always helps for a new racquet when you want to try to avoid getting that first good scrape, so this will ease your anxiety a bit if you have that problem like I do.
