To get more pace do you throw the ball more out in front? More knee bend?
I don't know? I have tried that. I'm lost

I try throwing into the court more. Of course you have to lean your body in farther, and stretch more, but a nice serve feels great! :P

Try to toss the ball slightly in front of you, very slightly. For a topspin serve, spin is alot more important at the lower level then pace IMO.

Don't forget to explode your knees forward into the court rather than just vertically (I don't mean literally explode).

Pronate your arm.

Swing faster. Literally, your arm has to move faster through the swing, it'll get more pace and more spin.

Swing faster or flatten your serve out. To flatten your serve out, throw your toss more forward, or change the motion of your swing so it's 45 degrees instead of being straight up at 90 degrees or whatever. Simple as that!

You have to sacrifice some RPM for more pace. You have to hit through the ball more instead of simply brushing up on the ball. You need to do a combination serve sort of like Federer's serve up the middle. Hit through and brush up at the same time and you'll get some pace. Simply going low to high will get you a high looping slow serve.

I have been doing that. Hitting the ball at a 45 degree angle is causing my shoulder to hurt. If I play two days straight, I'll have to rest my shoulder for about 3-4 days because I get this pinching feeling on my hitting shoulder. Also I noticed when I do hit it at a 45 degree I lose some racket head speed. When I am hitting I'm trying to rim the ball with the side of my racket at a 45 degree angle. Tomorrow I'm going to try to hit it at a 60 degree or close to 90 degree angle. Let see if It relieves my shoulder more and give me more racket head speed.

Good advice...definately need to do more of that

A topspin serve is not effective, you either want a kicker, slice, or flat serve since these serves cause the returner to miss. More topspin only bounches up so that the returner can hit down and add more pace to the return. To add more pop to any of these serves, use more wrist pronation, snap, and make your motion smoother, looser, and faster.

Well I just want a topspin serve for now to have a decent 2nd serve percentage. Once i have good spin and pace I'll slowly work my way to the american twist serve.

More racquet speed, and hitting it harder.
