View Full Version : It takes quite a bit of talent to control Williams sisters' rackets

I've always thought a lot of the talent in the Williams sisters lies in their ability to control such power rackets. I mean, is there anyone else on the tour that can play with such rackets... especially Serana's? These Wilsons are loaded with power and are the type of rackets used by older recreational players with slow swings. And the sisters use it the way it's not meant to be used, with big swings. Swinging such a racket so fast and being able to control its power is quite a talent. Also the reason that the Williams sisters are loaded with power shots is because of the rackets too.

They can't really place the ball too well they just hit it in. With that kind of power it doesn't really matter where you place it. The other women cannot compete.

If other palyers cant compete, then why dont they use the same racquets?

i think both their racquets have been rated by the NRA no?

I seriously doubt they're stock. Do you mean to tell me Serena grew those guns with a sub 10oz racquet? =D

spin is key with these rackets, also what string and tension. But no it is not about talent, it is about power as it always was.

As you can see that game does not work anymore

According to Jura's data, Venus's racquet would be about 11.6 oz. strung, with a Moyaesque balance of 14.3". This is not stock (which is 9.6 oz strung). But her racquet would definitely be a powerful rocket-launcher compared to what most players use.
