Just wondering when you apply an overgrip, how much do you overlap in cm or inches when wrapping the overgrip? I have always barely overlaped, just wondering whether this is wrong, or if its better to do it another way?

Thanx! :D

When I overgrip, I normally overlap about half the width of the grip. I don't worry if the grip doesn't reach to the top of the handle because I hit a two handed backhand. I feel this gives me some "ridges" on the handle, which, for me, allows me to grip the racquet in the same spot each time. Once I get the normal wear through spot by my thumb area, I just remove the grip, flip it upside down and regrip again. Works great for me. Hope this helps. Thanks.

I think it's mainly personal preference. Some people like to use all of the grip so they overlap as much as possible while others like me just kinda..wrap it however and cut off the extra bit.

It also depends on how thick you want your grip. If you want it thicker do as much as possible and vice versa.

an 8th of an inch. It's pretty exact, as i got to wrap 10 racquets in a row. I don't trust many ppl gripping my racquets, so i do it myself.

1/8th using wilson pro overgrip with n6.1 90.

I tried out tournagrip and you had to have very little overlap to cover the whole handle.

I overlap about .25 inch. That makes the overgrip come out with just a small piece to cut at the end. Love the Wilson overgrips. Can't use anything else.

Hardly any overlap at all -- I use Tournagrip, and it's not long enough to reach the top of the handle if you overlap.

Overlap half the width at the bottom half then tiny overlap at the top half. The reason is I use 1HBH, so I have no use for the top half. Not that it helps my game though, sadly...

I dont overlap that much...i used to do it so that i can use up most of the overgirp...but the bevels caused by the overwrapping became annoying a prevented my fingers from girpping the racquet as well as i would have liked.

So now i dont overlap alot and since i use wilson pro overgrip...i have a lot left over that i just wrap it round and round at the top and tape it. There is a bulge on the top but i like it like that since i use a two handed backhand.

there are overgrips like the volkl and pk superwrap that need a lot of overlap or they will slip up and expose the original grip. yonex supergrap and wilson pro are good at staying in place and need little overlap.

Thanx everyone for the suggestions!

Ive settled with around 1/8 of an inch overlap after much experimenting, feels best for me!

Thanx Again! :D
