It cannot be "inside" any of the cross strings. I don't believe there is any rule that dictates how many you can have, however.

I agree. I personally dislike dampeners. In my opinion, they kill the feel.

im sick of my yonex triangle dampener ripping and flying off...so im officially off the dampeners. im considering rubber bands now.

You won't be dissapointed going to a rubberband. You maintain string feel, takes just enough of the ping of the strings, and doesn't add any mass to the racquet. For about a penny a piece it's worth a try. ;)
