I was just skimming through racquets on the TW site. Looking at the wilson range, and saw (in thumbnail form) a racquet that looked like a kid's version of the W-Line. But no! It's the Serena racquet :). I clicked, out of sheer boredom (I'm actually about to demo an n6.1 95).

And for the record I've been playing tennis for a couple of decades, I understand enough about tennis to understand the below sentence (which comes from the text about the racquet), I know why it says what it does. But when you read the bold bits alone, it does seem a little ironic :)

Overall, this is a solid choice for players in the 2.5 to 4.0 playing level looking for a light and powerful racquet. Used by Serena Williams.

But when I read the title, I was thinking....hmm, what could possibly be ironic about a Gypsy Rose?

Maybe the European Romany/Gypsy community denounced this particular frame, because it stinks?

Possibly that a Wilson Gypsy Rose by any other name would still stink?

That having to pay more than twenty bucks for a Gypsy Rose constitutes getting totally gypped?

Well, vamos Serena! Hope you got a nice ffat check for that.

lol the rackets homegirl uses are pretty hilarious. monica seles used to use a racket that was designed for beginners too. the big yonie. it was like 130 square inches.

The frame is targeted to club level women, Serena uses a custom drilled frame.

A stripped-down model for sure.

This has to be the most repulsive Wilson yet.

Ok this is an old thread but the feedback for that racquet is quite funny. Seriously there should have been some sort of editing done there.

Did anyone see Serena use the racquet, or one painted like it? I've never seen any footage or photographs.

She used the PJ of it at LA tournament 06, USO 06 and the Williams McDonald tour.

I've seen at least 3 people use the N3 (which is the Gypsy Rose W3 racquet sans paintjob).

Tennis shops like the one in my area always try to sell ladies racquets like this one: super-light head-heavy giant-headed Wilsons. I wonder how much they cost to manufacture, these giant marshmallow frames?
