Has anybody tried this hybrid before? I'm still pretty new to playing around with different strings and I'm interested in trying out this hybrid.

Also, if I don't string my own racquet, can I just bring two packages of strings to my stringer and will he just cut each string in half and give me the leftover for a 2nd hybrid job?

Pardon my ignorance but what is SPPP?

I've had the 1.23 mm SPPP and Gosen OG SM 17 in my racquet recently and it is an excellent setup. SPPP hold tension very well. The combination is one of my two favorites. (The other, mainly for some customers, is Prince Polygut and Gosen OG SM or Gamma Syn Gut.)

What tension differential do you think would be suitable for an SPPP/OGSM hybrid??

I mean, the SPPP should be strung much lower (5-10%) than "normal", while the OGSM should be strung "normally." Does anyone see this as a problem?

I've just strung my APD with this combo at 55/57.

I'll be playing tonight and will let you know how it feels.

I have a SPPP/PSG combo at 56/59 and it's too powerful so far! Maybe the string will settle down some, but it just doesn't play as well as 100% SPPP though it is a bit softer. Whoop-de-do.

That is what should happen. ;)

To be safe you could open the packages and cut the string yourself. :D

Cool, thanks. I just wasn't sure about whether it took more string to do mains than crosses or vice versa.

I have tried the Poly Plasma HEX Main at 55 and Gosen Sheep cross at 58. The strings felt dead, low power but amazing spin (because of the HEX). A bit stiff too, didn't like it that much.

Cyberflash is a much better string in my opinion. And use Gamma Revelation as cross, you'll get a much better result.

i had the same problems. and i got it strung at 57/60. ive tried full jobs of each and i find that gosen loses tension a bit at a time till it snaps or is completely dead, whereas SPPP loses a lot of tension from the start and then settles in. i like SPPP except for its colour

tennis_nerd22: are you stringing the SPPP at "10% lower" than normal?

That is, if you use syn gut at 58, are you stringing your SPPP at 52-53?

no i didnt. but right now i have SPPP strung 10% lower (which you dont have to btw), at 55/53, and ive had it for about 9-10 hours so far so its probably a few lbs lower.

when you say 55/53, is the first no. refer to mains, and second refer to crosses?

why some use main higher than cross and vice versa?

Thanks.

I really like this combination - excellent spin potential and I found that after two hours tension held up well.
