Should string tension vary based on court surface (hard/clay)?

If so, how much?

Thanks

54 hard, 50 clay.

Thats surprising.

I thought it may be the exact opposite.

Thanks.

54 hard, 50 clay.

That's a ridiculous statement.

Everyone knows it's 53 hard, 51 clay.

I think many of the pros adjust when they move surfaces. But they also adjust by how they are playing, weather conditions...Don't over think yourself.

I assumed they strung lower on clay because the play further back, and more defensively.

Perhaps, but the might feel like they are missing some shots and crank it up a pound or two...

The ball bounces off the ground slower on clay. Instead of using your opponent's speed as on hard courts, you have to generate more yourself. Thus playing on clay/HarTru indicates stringing a bit lower in tension.

Some people like to string 1-2lb looser indoors. no wind and such.
