View Full Version : Slice Serves
when i try to serve slices, i either
1) Slice it too much with no pace so it lands outside the opposite post on my side of the court
or
2) Try to put more pace with also seems to slice way more then if i was trying to slice so it lands deep on the other side and way far out
any advice on keeping the serve deep and with spin?
i usually hit it with continental or eastern backhand

swing upward use contintental grip. let toss drop a lil bit lower
with swing upward is that like hit the bottom of the ball, or try to brush up the back of it...
like, what would be the positioning of the racquet face "|" or "--"

Don't brush up on the slice unless you want a slow weak serve. Drive through the ball with an eastern backhand grip but contacting the ball with your racquet at an angle that will generate the sidespin. Chop down through the ball a little to add some topspin and they shouldn't fly so long.

I would suggest that your technique is probably OK but you very likely have a ball toss issue. Assuming you have the standard hammer grip (a must) try tossing the ball at the 12 o'clock position, hit the serve, and then keep moving the toss clockwise while insuring that your stance remains the same. You will probaly find the ideal location for your toss that will result in a deep and wide slice.
Good luck.
