I thought I would share what mods I made to my own Gamma X-2. Now it is just the way I like it.

I would be very interested in reading any Gamma x-2 mods that others here have made have done.

Mod 1.

I bought a cheap laptop cart for $35.00 and used the base to mounted my Gamma X-2 on it. I removed the rubber feet on the gamma X-2 and since the brackets that the feet mount to slide, I lined them up to some holes on the stand and tightened them down with M6 bolts.

I had to drill some holes on the laptop stand's base and move the upright support towards the middle for more support.

I like the cart because it is mobile, compact and has height adjustment. It could feel a little bit more study, but it is sturdy enough for me and holds the Gamma X-2 fine. I didn't like the idea of getting a $120.00 Gamma stand.

Mod 2.

I used some tie wraps to mount a pegboard hook to the stand's upright support. I placed my reels of strings that I use. I also mounted a tape measurer to the support as well.

Mod 3.

I added a small tool tray to the back side of the X-2. Since the X-2 has mounting rails along the top of the front and back side,(for the black cutting block feature), I used 2 M6 nuts and 2 M6 bolts to secure the blue plastic tray that I got at Target.

Mod 4.

My most complicated mod was making a working brake for the X-2. I had mentioned in a previous post how I was trying to do it and how I wasn't successful at it. Since then I was able to figure something out and now with a turn of a M8 allen head wrench, I can lock the turntable securely in place and do all of the racquetball racquets that require a brake. (Ektelon O3 and Head IGS type racquets).

Mod 5.

I didn't like the 2 tall support post pins, as I would scrap my hands on them often. These pins are just studs with threads on both ends. So I just bought shorter ones at a hardware store and the threads never go beyond the top of the knobs anymore. I believe they are M8 in size.

Mod 6.

Since I just do racquetball racquets, at times the support adapters that come with the X-2 just don't fit or work. I use them when I can, but there are times you just can't. I put tubing on the support post pins tall enough to protect the racquet surface. When I am done stringing, I then put long pieces of tubing on the support post pins to protect the racquet when removing it from the stringer.

Maybe Gamma can look into adding the tool tray and maybe even a braking device to their next generation X-2 model. Of course not as primitive as what I did. Even better, they can make them as options and charge more money for them.

Heck, maybe I could make a nice tool tray package that has the blue tray with mounting holes, the nuts and bolts and installation instructions and charge a mint for it.

Hi Double B - I noted some time ago you were using the K Surge and have since changed frames.

I have been using the Surge for the past 2 years and although not entirely happy with it have made good use of it. A couple of months ago I started using the Head Microgel Extreme a less stiff frame which is ok but found myself going back to the Surge. After only a couple of days of going back to the Surge I developed TE and will be out of action until the tendonitis settles down.

My question is did you have any issues with the stiffness of the Surge and what frame are you currently using and how is is it in your opinion superior to the Surge.

Thanks in advance for your respoinse.....Norm
