if its 12 pts HL then its the same in one aspect as the ncode 90...

the pj of the k six one tour isnt too bad, but the ncode 90 looks clean

if the specs are the same as the ncode 90, i'm not buying into whatever "new technology" they'll say

i've zoomed in on the image with the specs shown....i'm making it out to be 12 pts HL...

is that looking like it says 360g? as opposed to 352g for the current ncode 90

if it is then k six-one tour 90 is 12.7 oz approx

i can barely see the balance. it's either 12 or 10 points headlight.

This was definitely discovered in the other thread, I've already pointed people to it once before in that thread, here goes...

Bringing the negative pic into Photoshop to get a cleaner look it appears that it has the following specs:

90 sq in head
16x19 string pattern
12 oz weight unstrung
12 pts HL

obviously a different one:

Perhaps, not, this post also came from the other thread...

I think that picture #1 & #2 show the same racquet with the same color scheme (red at the 3 & 9 o'clock positions). Picture # 2 (closeup of grommets & circle "K") has just been desaturated & manipulated in Photoshop to give it a different color/hue. I played around with the first pic & was able to get it to closely match the color tones of the second. You'll notice that whatever was red in pic. #1 now appears to be the same reddish gray as in pic. #2.

seeing 5 "boxes"...

going from left to right, farthest to nearest...i cannot read the 1st box, the 2nd box i see as saying "16 x 19"...the 3rd box says "90 sq in"....the 4th box, now i'm doubting...either 340g or 360 g...and 5th box, says 12 pts HL

you sure its 12 oz? i can sort of see it as reading, 360 g

thats not 12 oz...thats like 12.7 oz
Nope. Looks like 340g 12.0oz which is the same the the other tour 90s. There is no reason why wilson would increase unstrung weight that much.

Well - it was tennis_vet who did the PS work, not me, BUT it also looks kinda like 340g, yes?

12oz = 341.64g

Seems logical.....

yeah i'm not on you for anything...i just want to figure it out

it does look more like 340g 12.0 oz to me now

in that case...the racquet is like the same thing as the ncode 90, which is the same thing as the pro staff tour 90

It's cool - I didn't figure you were 'on me'.

People have also commented as much as you have above in the other thread.

I have two guesses:

a. They're going to claim it plays significantly differently, which will be somewhat interesting to see *how differently* given the very similar mold & specs.

b. That they may have been press-release demo racquets, and had an old set of specs on them. Be kinda smart, leak the photos, but don't leak the specs just yet.

If Robert Palmer, Phil Collins and Huey Lewis are your music of choice (on tape, of course) then, apart from a beating, you probably deserve the K Factor (which looks like the love child of a Wilson Trident and a Yamaha EX 110).

Yeah, maybe this time Wilson will claim that the new K-Factor is "2 times less stable, 2 times less strong, and 22% less powerful"? So remember the K-Factor code: "-2 -2 -22". I guess that gets them back to about where they were. LOL

Wow I didn't even realise it was orange. I thought it was red...

I'd assumed it was red too, maybe just looks orange-y due to overexposure in one or two of the shots? I'd be surprised if wilson completely went away from the red...

Oh - adely - as for black & orange - black & strong orange are a very common colour combination, marketing-wise anyways. Almost anything works with black, but orange is bright & strong. Maybe not 'designer-stylish', but damned effective at getting attention....

WTF?? Anyone with basic color/dress sense knows that black and orange don't go together. Losers

I don't think it's orange. It's just flash. It's probably the same red color but it's uglu nevertheless. Welcome to k6.1 Tour 90 :)

I think the color balance of the photo is way off. Look how much green is in the wood. I adjusted it just a little and came up a more realistic shot, but I can't post attachments to show you. I think the racquet is definitely red, but it's a more vivid red than the usual Wilson red.

Wilson took too much inspiration from Darth Maul from that design. Its just plain Fugly. I'll take the original Tour 90 over all the others.

It is indeed an ugly paintjob. I really don't care though if they can bring back the great feel of our beloved prostaff 85/95s. I have a question for the racket technology gurus. Does the trend of making rackets "stronger" necessarily equate to rackets increasingly losing their feel? It certainly happened with Wilson's "nanotechnology".

That paintjob looks awfully like one of their Wal-Mart models that I saw not too long ago.:D

Does "anyone" include the multi-mega-buck Marlboro McLaren F1 team, which chose similar colors so they would appear the way the sponsors wanted when races are televised?

Even though a lot of people don't like the PJ now, once they see federer using the k-factor it'll grow on them. just how the PS Tour 90 looks dated, the nCode Tour 90 will be perceived the same way. More detail in the k-factor trumps the plain look of the red/white of the nCode

I am the only one who likes it hahaha. But well i am from holland so i love orange and black haha. BTW it looks to me like the radical performance tour with the yellow white and black from i believe 1995

according to wikipedia:
In Sheet metal engineering, the term k-factor has the following meaning:

During bending the inner surface of the bend is subjected to compression while the outer surface is subjected to tension. However there is layer in between which is free from any forces and thus its length remains the same. This is called the neutral axis ( N.A ). The radius of this layer of metal is called the neutral bend arc radius ( NBAR )and is defined as the inside bend radius plus a percentage( K-factor ) of the metal thickness.

NBAR = BR + (T * K-factor)

The K-Factor ( K ) depends on the material, the type of bending operation (coining, air-bending), the ratio of the Bend Radius to the metal thickness ( R/T ) and is typically between 0.3 to 0.5. For most types of steels it is around 0.33 to 0.4

McLaren uses way less orange(way less black and more silver too), and they only use it as highlights so that's why it looks much better. And orange and dark blue looks very good, but that orange+black just isn't good, maybe the white also gets in the way.
