Thank goodness the age here is 18 - although I did start younger than that I'm afraid. Robbie, I suppose it depends on my mood. I'm a big fan of Paralyzers, Caesers and LI Iced Teas. Nothing better on a hot summer day than a cold beer (or 2 or 3). ;) How about you?

Sorry, yes that one slipped my view I'm afraid. All the above are virgin drinks of course as I would never give in to that type of behaviour. lol

I'm craving snails now SoBad - I'll have to make a batch tomorrow. I make a lot of apps actually - one of my favourite things. How do you like your natchos?

Not too picky but lots of cheese please! As for martini thread, it probably slid off the front page before you came onto the forum...

Hmm.. yeah, I'll look for it one of these days. I tend to get so disappointed with the natchos you get in restaurants these days - where's the cheese? It's disgraceful!! I load mine with everything you can imagine and I eat them way too often for my own good. Yes, I love to cook and wow do I ever love to eat! In moderation of course, but I enjoy food and the preparation of it.

Heya sorry for the delayed responses. I was in the shower getting ready for the formal/prom tonight which is only a few hours away.

Well I don't really like the beers we have in down under. Beer is a last resort for me if there is nothing else to drink. If it must be beers then it shall be Crown Lager or Tooheys New.

But usually I will go for any of the vodka/liqueur mixer drinks. Oh but there is ONE beer that I love and that is Becks. I think it's made in Germany. :-D

That's right it's 11-DEC-2006 down under. So you're still going with silver tie?

Okay guys, I fear this is entering the chatty zone so I think we need to make our posts a little longer. Sorry to be the heavy, but it's so cool to get together and I would hate to jeopardize this. Anyway, on that somber note, Robbie, I hope you have an unbelievable night, SoBad you amuse me as always. Catch y'all later. :) CC

Good lad! Enjoy your formal tonight!

P.S. I'll be giving your "omega 3" comment some thought.;)

I'm off for now too. It's time to go to a friend's place for the pre formal party, then there will be the formal itself and then after parties. Have a good one SoBad ;)

ooo, all black with a silver tie sounds quite handsome. Hope it's not too late to pick up some of the conversation I missed, I had to do some yoga and cook some dinner (ginger/garlic prawns tonight).

As for libations, well since its this time of year, I bought egg nog tonight at the grocery store. I add a little bit of vanilla ice cream and rum/brandy mix. If I'm not too lazy, I'll sprinkle nutmeg into it as well. This is my worst weakness at this time of year and I need to exercise more to counteract it. (as if ;) ). The rest of the year I'll choose between Bass Ale, Samuel Adams, Red Tail Ale or Guinness, or whatever wine strikes my fancy, mostly California Reds and some 'refridgerator whites' during the hot summer months. Glass of sherry or muscato occaisionally, and perhaps a Long Island Iced Tea if it's a very special thing (I only get top shelf versions, and those are expensive). I was on a Cosmopolitan thing for a while, but the last time I had one it just seemed too sour.

Okay, was that long enough? ;)

I was on a Cosmopolitan thing for a while, but the last time I had one it just seemed too sour.

Well, the original cosmo was designed as an aperitif, so it really should be on the sour side. As with any drink where you balance sweet against sour, of course, it's there are subjective factors like drinker's stated preference and bartender's judgement call. Personally if I am mixing, I would always err on the sour side. A little too much lime and "hmm... it's a little sour", but a little too much Cointreau and the drink is ruined (undrinkably sweet). Just a thought from "semi-pro" of mixology yours truly...

So, I've been thinking about New Year's Resolutions and the fact that I never make them since I know they will be broken. Does anyone follow this practice, and if so, care to share? The only one I could think of maybe sticking to is watching a little less tv and spending more time reading. The only time I get a chance these days is before sleep - but I looked at my stack of unread books yesterday and thought - yeah, actually my thought was kind of morbid but you get the idea. Resolutions anyone??

Okay yay! G'day everyone. I had the formal last night and as you probably remember I initially said i'd go with the red poppy tie but then thought i'd go with silver to match her accessories. But she didn't wear heaps of silver so who knows maybe I should have stuck with the red tie. But I had a good time anyway :D

Just posting one in here since most of the people who participated in my "Prom Colour Coordinating" thread participate in CC's thread.

Just paranoid about my Prom Colour Coordinating thread be bumped down and down and maybe people wouldn't get to see it.

Have a good day.

Well you both look quite dashing and festive. The outfits look good without being overly 'matchy'. Well done. :)

Ahh, I remember my prom, the girl, the music and the after prom, the time of my life. Oh wait, there was no prom, no girl and so no after prom; I was home-schooled. I hope you enjoyed it, because the thought of having to go through prom, honestly, makes me a little ill. What you and your date should have done, was dress to match the Pro Staff Tour 90, then you would have looked really smart. That also would have solved your neck wear issues.

LOL - wondering when you'd swing around again. :) I notice a lot of people are going to their proms these days in basketball wear, so yeah, tennis would have been cool. Although she wouldn't have had a chance to show off that dress.

That's an awesome shot, very elegant indeed. Silver's way to go, like Fee said, red tie would have been "overly 'matchy'", I don't know how jamu got away with that stuff (or maybe I do;)). By the way, is that a silver ring you are wearing? So are you going to post stories about the formal the preparties and the afterparties in your prom thread? You could just use it as your blog going forward, that way it won't "sink".

So I guess everyone is doing great??:p Is this bistro always slow on Monday nights?? Any "specials" going on?? CC you should just go ahead and post your NY resolutions here, that way we'll help you track progress.;)

Egg nog. Which may have been a mistake because now I am sleepy, but it was a long day anyway. I'm off, cafe denizens, see you Tuesday...

Good night Fee - see you tomorrow!! :)

Yeah, Mondays are a little slow SoBad. That's my only resolution - what is yours if you follow that tradition?

Hey SoBad. Yes that is a ring I am wearing on the annular finger although i'm not married haha. It's just a fancy mood ring that one of my sheila friends gave me.

Well as far as stories go we had our pre party at my partner's (her name is Avril) house. There was your typical finger food brought about on plates i.e. biscuits with ham and cheese on top, dim sims and spring rolls, doritos that came in a christmas tree shape and a few vodka mixed drinks. Unfortunately one of the sheilas drank two bottles of Smirnoff Black label (which is a vodka cruise drink) on an empty stomach and found herself feeling sick for the rest of the night.

10 of us arrived at the Musuem of Contemporary Art in white limousines and overall it was a good night. Mind you I thought they could have given us more food. Since my partner is a vegetarian, she skipped on the chicken which she thought was the entree; only to find out later that was the main meal (poor Avril). And the desert was just some chocolate fudge cake thingy majig. As for the sheila that drank 2 Smirnoffs on an empty stomach, LOL, she spent most of the night sleeping on the table and eventually one of the people who worked there asked her to wake up and move around (cause they don't want to be liable for what happens to her).

Therefore most of the night many of our friends sat outside talking and cracking jokes with the intoxicated friend of ours. Avril and I did this for the first half of the night but with the other 7 of our friends taking care of, and entertaining our intoxicated friend, Avril and I spent the last 2 hours of our formal dancing. Mind you, the person who chose the music was very bad lol. Oh well, we adapted anyway.

So to end the night, our whole group took a stroll down to Pancakes on the Rocks which is basically open 24/7. And as you probably guessed, this became an opportunity for everyone to stuff themselves full of food at 1 am in the morning :D. There was an after party at some sheilas house named Skye, but my partner and I felt tired and went home. Only 2 or 3 of our group actually went to Skye's afterparty.

Becareful us aussies don't tip for extra service, canadianchic..

LOL - yeah I get that. Us Canucks are similar to the US although the wait staff are not demanding or pushy unless you are in a high end restaurant or resort. But hey, this is a relaxed bistro, no? Your company is plenty. ;)

What kind of operation are you running here? A cafe bar and bistro without a toilet?

Oh wait, I get it. I have to order first, right? :)

Usually I don't make resolutions, but this year I've decided to make a resolution to appear in one of the "best of" threads that pop up in the TW forums now and again.

What about you canadian chic?

I suppose my goal is to stay out of those threads unless of course the category is Funniest, Smartest, Most Amazing Canuck. Hmm.. I want to read more, watch less tv, eat at least one cheesecake (whole damn thing) a month and take a little more "me time". LOL
