using superglue legal?

If i use superglue instead of string savers, would that be legal?
And would it be a good idea? would it hurt the strings?

Unless you are on pro tour, no one will ever find out, of course, unless you tell them.

BTW, I have used super glue to keep a vibration dampener in place, but that's about the only extent that I have used it.

They use to sell a spray that did the same thing. It was almost like a varnish and it locked the strings in place, and prevent moisture problems with gut. It was called like Gut Life or something. Have not seen it for a long time...

I don't see any physical advantage you would gain, so my guess it is not illegal...but then again who would notice, and why don't you just you string savers...

Let's suppose that superglue is legal and it doesn't damage the strings. Then theoratically you can string your racket with soft multis, superglue it and you would have the comfort of multi with the spin production of polys. Sounds interesting....

From the rules of tennis:
The strings shall be free of attached objects and protrusions other than those utilised solely and specifically to limit or prevent wear and tear or vibration and which are reasonable in size and placement for such purposes.
so i guess it depends on your interpretation

If you are adding superglue to your strings, I'm sure the best reason would be to limit movement to increase stringlife. The strings should rebound fairly normally (they'd still stretch etc between the intersections). My guess is that the strings would break more easily at the intersection where it tries to stretch, but can't because of the glue.

My guess (it is only that, a GUESS!) is that the adhesion would break. ACC (aka: "superglue") is very rigid. I think it would break loose from the strings in a short time. Also, it only works where the two parts mate tightly,it does not fill gaps well-SO how would you get a drop in between the strings?

I think the adhesion would break and, depending on your string type, it might weaken your strings. Cyanoacrylates will actually dissolve some substances.

Maybe try a different glue. A more flexible glue, maybe? That would solve the problem of the glue itself breaking.

true. I tried gluing the lenses of my glasses back and it basically melted the top of it off, so there were these wierd spots that were not transparent.

if it's fine for you....just do it....
i use my rubberband over the bottom cross string (illegal)....
but noone had ever told me to take it off during a match,so just do it....
perhaps,nobody will ever notice it....
