I guess this was another "neutral statement" too...
What was interesting to me about the Serena controversy is not that you didn't participate in the thread. It was that you actually took the trouble to contribute to the discussion, but entirely passed on the hot button issue being discussed in favor of some benign comment about your preferences in women. It wasn't that I was needing you to rescue me like you have so many, many times before. For all I know, you may have taken the other guys side in that debate. What was odd to me was that you opened your mouth but had nothing much to say when you seldom seem at a loss for opinions at other times. (Your lack of participation in that debate seemed even more strange when I read a post of yours recently where you said you call people on their racism and sexism, etc., when you see it.)
But I accept your explanation that you came to the thread late, and that you have had that fight many times before in other threads, and that you were tired of bailing me out of messes I've gotten into, and wanted me to stand on my own two feet for once instead of reyling on old Phil to come in and save the day for me once again, and all that. Where would I be without you?
Well, life sure is different here. I can't even get my tennis friends to discuss racket head size because they'd rather discuss race, gender, and Iraq or whatever. Here's a sample conversation in my world:
HEYCAL: Gee, Bill, you're a 5.0 who's been playing tennis your whole life. What kind of racket do you use and why?
BILL: I'm not sure. I think it might be a Wilson or something? And when you say 'head size' do you mean the round part where you hit the ball? If so, I didn't realize they came in different sizes -- hey, do you think that guy working the front desk for minimum wage resents that white upper middle class guys like us monopolize these outer borough courts while most of the people he knows couldn't afford even a single lesson? Should we even be allowed to play here?
If you don't think Sharapova is hot than you are gayer than Top Gun.
Sure, she might not be your type, but she is a damn fine looking girl, and her ass -- as evidenced by the photo in the link above -- is looking great.
Now, is she overhyped? Sure. Is she the most attractive girl on the tour? Probably not. Is she still twice as hot as the average woman, and twice as hot as tennis girls of yesteyear? Yes. In my day, Chris Everett was the hottest thing going on the court and there weren't too many others who even looked like women, and Sharapova and the rest of the girls today are -- like the equipment they use -- vastly superior to Everett and the rest of them back then.
