Amanmuradova can definately pass as a man... god she is a beast (not in a good way)

Is this some kind of a joke???

I heard some of the commentators talking about this hard server from Uzbekistan, but there was no coverage or pictures of her.

I look forward to seeing her play.

Akgul isn't a good mover...but she's improving...Very big server...Big Groundstrokes...especially her forehand...you'll probably get to see her on tv because she plays Nicole Vaidisova in round 2.

Oh yeah! I remember I read a blurb about King in the sports section of today's USA TODAY.

Yep that same Phillip King, lost I think 5-7 in the third to Henmen at Legg Mason. He was also a 4 year all american at Duke, plus there are 2 other sisters that play collegiate tennis at Princeton and Penn.

I had noticed a while ago, Phillip seems to be entering mostly Asian Futures, not US ones... maybe the US ones are tougher to win!

yeah, Phillip is a good friend of mine. He and Vania train in Carson (home depot center). Last weekend, I drove up to watch him play in the first round of the qualies and unfortunately he lost to a red-hot Victor Estrella. Phillip is driving up to Yuba City to play the qualies for the challenger next week (he's got points to defend up there).

This summer, his plan is to play a couple of futures in China this month then coming back to the states to play Legg Mason, Binghamton and the Bronx Challenger

He played in the Asian futures because he's got family friends in Taiwan. He also trains and travels with the Taiwanese players--Rendy Lu, Jimmy Wang and Ti Chen.

akgul suxxxxxxxxxx i seen her play shes wak

I read on tennis.com that she started playing tennis at age 10 as a hobby, with no dreams at all of becoming a pro. That is absolutely amazing. Most tennis players do not even reach 5.0 level tennis with years of practice. She does not suck!

the fact that she´s wearing shorts and a man´s tshirt doesnt help her much with the "femenine" issue.

that's just like asking the same question about mauresmo.
Not even close, Mauresmo may look slightly masculine, but this person is wearing what look to be mens clothes (I'd wear them), has really short hair, and appears to be a man.

i read on a website that the Uzbekistan basketball team keep trying to recruit her, but she says she'd rather play tennis. Its on on tennis.com

You guys just have to get used to the fact that women in many cultures do not conform to Western notions of femininity. I am not talking about height, but facial features and the like. It does not indicate any medical issues. It is just how they look.
