Even Fed when he plays doubles loses in the first round sometimes...again it's doubles, completely different game.

He was out near the limo in a hurry and Connors was still looking for him. Then they both fled. Roddick is also not getting his 100 pound check for losing in the first round.

It was him and Ginepri against Guccione and Healey. They lost 5-7, 1-6.

Doubles is a completely different game at the pro level, the Bryan brothers can't win a single singles match yet they dominate doubles.

It is a shocker when the best player on the ATP tour loses in the first round of a challenger's event! ;)

Haha he fled in embarrassment/rage.

I read that ginepri shouted to the crowd he needed a new partner after roddick netted another volley.

If you can verify this, maybe an end of a good relationship between two American "hopefuls" ?

He's just building it up so he can beat Fed at Wimby

No wonder they lost. It's doubles so it's not a big surprise. Did the players want a head start on the grass cout season? I forgot why they wanted to play a challenger.

Umm... there's also the fact that Guccione and Healey aren't bad players at all. Fools.

Also, this isn't a shocker. It's doubles.

zomg in doubles its all bout the serve and volley. Guccione is like one of the best serve and volleys out there. Thats all he does/can do. Him and whoever would snap roddick. (no volleys ^ 22) and whoever ne day!

complete BS.

James may(ranked joint last @1522) who beat sam querry(ranked 67)at this tournament is exclusively a doubles player.

First of all Heavy Metal is the biggest fan boy of the "pretty boy" tennis players.

Second of all I was kidding in my previous post about Andy beating Fed at Wimbledon, and how did this thread become about Sam Querrey? Nice try adlis but you missed the mark there, Apples and Oranges I'm afraid.

Thirdly I agree with WhiteSox no reason for all the Roddick hating, it's really easy to be a Fed or Nadal fanboy when they win everything. God, I can't wait to read all the responses, this should be interesting, come on Heavy Metal I want to hear more about these "baked goodies"!

You are laughable. If you don't realize that doubles is a completely different game, get out. Singles players rarely have the instinct that good doubles players do. The only one that really comes to mind is Mcenroe, and maybe Federer could be great if he played more.

Roddick and Ginepri are not good at net. Ever seen them play?

Guccione comes in S&V lots of times. And with his good lefty serve and the fact that Roddick and Ginepri probably can't aim their returns that well, i'm not surprised.

The reason he played doubles is because he's too good for singles. Literally- the tournament doesn't allow top 10 players to play singles.

Exactly. Guccione's serve is top 10 material alone. Him and Healey would combine for some gritty doubles. I can imagine him and Ginepri losing quite badly.
I'll rank Guccione's serve at top5. Heck, he's #2 in my serving list, right below Karlovic, and above Ljubicic, Pim Pim and Roddick.

Andy Roddick will be on Jonathan Ross's talk show tonight.

Friday Night with Jonathan Ross
Airs Next: BBC-1 at Friday 10:40 PM (60 min.)

With a cheeky gag never too far away and a wit sharper than his own suits, don't expect the guests to get an easy ride on the way to plugging their latest film, book, session in rehab or range of underpants.

Funny, likeable and unlike any other chat show host, if you get to sit with Jonathan you're doing something right. Either that or you're just Ricky Gervais.

Next episode: Myleene Klass, Nick Frost, Andy Roddick, My Chemical Romance.

It's time to pretend we like tennis again, Andy Roddick's appearance can only mean the evil that is Wimbledon is upon us. Fat women of Britain rejoice and pay £98.39p for two strawberries. Myleene Klass who is heavily pregnant and Nick Frost who's just fat also appear.

Airs: Friday June 8, 2007

Guccione's 2nd serve is a bit whippy, or he sometimes just goes for it and cracks a 2nd serve. His 1st serve is pretty huge. I'd rate Wayne Arthurs' serve even better. I saw Guccione at a futures tournament a few years ago, the other established doubles players in his match were better then him particularly on the reaction time and on the reliability in the groundstrokes and return of serve but he's improved his game since then.

Andy Roddick from the blog on his site:
For the record…I had NO idea I was meant to do press at a doubles challenger…I have played 12 challengers in my career and never once did press…it was reported that I left the site in a “huff”…apparently a huff means signing autographs and taking pictures…and it’s news to me that I have a chauffeured limo? I mean, I’m fine to do press after loosing a Grand Slam final but losing first round doubles in Surbiton gets to me? No chance…it’s hard to know you have class to attend if no one gives you your schedule…a little disappointing too because my first round check doesn’t cover the fine but playing with Robby was fun.

Actually, I think Querrey getting beat by someone ranked 1522 is bigger news than Roddick losing 1st rd in dubs.
