One underrated aspect that nobody is mentioning is the stability of Zverev 's life right now. He spent the time after WB with his child and his ex girlfriend. And they looked happy.

Maybe a positive change is coming to Z's behavior towards tennis?

I will be happy with whichever player wins the Gold medal!!!! Honestly I like Khachanov better as a person but I would be very pleased for Zverev if he were to win too.

Zod going to uplevel Noel’s trollery and polish the silver. He’s got enough gold anyway. Imagine the medal ceremony.

Is there anywhere to watch the final live??? (I live in the U.S., but live for others as well? Different ways for all of us to watch regardless of where we live?)

Would the last big final featuring two unexpected finalists be USO’14? If so, the very slightest of favorites going in was Nishikori. Kei had a healthy 5-2 h2h lead then but they had split their two USO matches. Cilic breezed 3,3&3.

Zedraffe is a prohibitive favorite tonight. The h2h is split 2-2 but KK has won the last two, both on HC (one indoor in peak KK form 1&2).

I disagree with the book lines (1.35-3.21 for Zed). To me this will be close because Khachanov is in form and it’s a frequent phenomenon for a big upset (Zed today) to be followed by a flop.

Khachanov in 3.

2-2 in the H2H, but Khachanov won the last 2 in pretty convincing fashing. However, I do trust Zverev much more in these kind of big finals.

Paris-Bercy’18 was played out in reverse order with KK/AZ in the QF and KK/ND in the final (Thiem SF in between.) That would mean they both beat ND in finals in back to back tournaments that year.

I don’t think Khachanov can replicate the straight set path through those three Bercy matches. He will be fresher though after dusting Busta in 90 minutes. He will need that fresher tank if my expectations for a cracker of a match happens.

Zverev is in danger of being put into Hukacz's shoes last Wimbledon.
Huge win (defeating Federer) and a downfall in the next round (loss to Berrettini).

The final is on Sunday, so I expect both to be fresh. Khachanov easily beating Carreño really surprised me, though.

Confirming an amazing win like this is never easy. The "next match" is always tricky. We just saw this in Roland with Djokovic, the final was a lot more complicated than everyone expected.

Khachanov won the only final of a big event he has played, beating Djokovic in straight sets on his favorite surface.
He also won his last 2 matches against Zverev on hard courts, 6-1 6-2 and 6-3 6-3.
His level against Schwartzman, Carreno-Busta and Humbert is not far from Paris 2018. Zverev was one of his victims that week.

I still think Zverev wins in 3 but the opposite wouldn't susprise me one bit.

Has Zverev asked Melo to support him courtside or is he in ICU recovering from near death experience after being hit by a ball?

I’m saying khachanov. I think Zverev did an amazing job coming back against Djokovic but that kind of effort can have a hangover effect. Khachanov seems to be very focused and I really would not be surprised to see him win this. My hubby is German though so we are rooting for Sascha

It’s all on Zverev today. If he serves well, I can’t see Khachanov winning this. If he has the yips, it’s game over.

True, but Khachanov doesn’t have the serve yips :)
Yeah you make a good point about the yips though. Is it any coincidence that the second Djokovic’s serve started to faulter and Zverev got break points, Zverev’s own service games improved? With him if he feels he can get into the opponent’s service games it puts less pressure on himself to hold.

Against a guy like Khachanov who has such a big serve+1 combo Zverev is going to be under a lot of pressure to hold his serve— and that leads to Zverev DFing and beating himself usually. Interested to see what happens

Mischa Zverev yesterday confirmed in a German TV studio what Sascha said at the beginning of the tournament, but what many here didn't want to believe: That Sascha's biggest dream always was winning Olympic Gold, even more so than a Slam. And Mischa said that out of his own, without being asked.
