Maria packing her bags in round of 16 loss to Nicole Vaidisova.

I think Vaidisova is a fabulous, talented player.

I think sharapova is a fabulous, talented player as well, but in comparison to Vaidisova she's much more accomplished and mentally tough. Vaidisova could surely beat Maria, but I would bet against it this time around.

Vaidisova will become a true contender, consistently, once she gets her temper under control.

You are posting more and more crap on this board. Where is Vaidisova's slam title?

It really doesn't matter that Vladisova doesn't have a Slam.

An "on" Vlaidisova could give Maria trouble and would have a good chance at beating her (though I'd give odds to Maria).

But, (1) she hasn't been playing, and (2) she's a horrible closer in big matches.

So, I wouldn't count on the upset.

I'm sure Vaidisova has gotten all the practice she needs on the set of the Citizen Eco-Drive Commercial this summer.

I am not a Sharapova fan, in fact I'm amongst Sharapova haters because of her attitude and her screams... BUT you cannot compare these two players... Sharapova is certainly more talented and has a better overall game, while Vaidisova relies mostly on her serve... no serve = no game, also her mental strength is really poor (when compared to Sharapova)... as I said I don't like Masha but she's a fighter, she can win matches almost lost, mentally she's like a rock (most of the time) while Nicole lost so many matches that were already won that it's not even worth mentioning... to sum up Sharapova may win some more Grand Slams, while IMHO Vaidisova isn't a Grand Slam winner material...

Although you aren't a Maria fan....I like your arguments;) . Well informed and objective. But I can't understand why you don't like her attitudes. I mean she behaves like a normal girl on and off court, her interviews are always funny and she is very grounded. Furthermore I can't believe that everybody makes such a big deal of her grunting.....it isn't that loud as it is on TV....and it's just part of her game. It's like some players ask again and again for the ball they have hit with last. Each player has his/her own style. And btw most of the WTA players revealed that they don't feel bothererd by Masha's grunting.

;) C'mon Maria

oho nice.....another expert;)

Well Maria lost to the Williams' sisters......and that's it....and both times Masha struggled with injuries.
I don't see nicole as big contender......she has both.....a ****ty play and mental weakness...if you ask me this isn't a great combination.....especially not then..when you'll probably meet Maria.......so bye bye Nicole

and now let's talk about the Williams' sisters. I particularly don't like them. Both are stuck-up and too comfortable to play an tournaments. It's a pity that Masha won't get the chance to kick their ass.... Henin will do it earlier;)

Personally I would enjoy a Sharapova-Williams US Open final. It's always entertaining when Masha sends the "great champions" back home. ;)
Hmm hm....I'll never forget the Wimby 2004 final

GO MASHA :D

As for NicoleV, i am a huge fan. She has been on the doorstep of a major breakthrough several times, and didn't quite make it. She keeps getting closer and will make the breakthrough soon, she still so young and maturing, yet is already labeled as being metally fragile. Sure, she has been in the past, but that doesn't mean that the experience won't help her improve that in the future.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see her sweet groundies (not just a serve) and overall game take maria to the woodshed.

Hmmm most of her losses were do to injury... and if you meant her troubles with the Williams sisters you have to realize that she is more of a power player and that is the way of play of the Williams sisters, Sharapova often counts on overpowering her opponents but hw can you overpower a tank like Serena W. ? The only way is to make her run like never... as I said I don't like Masha but there are players which she doesn't like to play against and among those players are the Williams sisters... many players have such a weakness, for example Justine Henin hates playing against opponents who use two-handed strokes on both forehand and backhand... etc. etc.

Masha4ever#1 <<< I don't like her attitude because I saw some baaad things she did on TV e.g. serving when the other player signaled that she wasn't ready. And about her grunts believe it or not a friend called me once while I was watching her match and because the volume was a bit high my friend heard her and said something like this: Peter at least stop watching that porn when you're talking to me! I said it was a tennis match and he didn't believe me so I turn up the volume so he could hear the judge, but still it was really embarrassing...

But I don't like Vaidisova either because I still have in mind how she treated a ball boy just because she wasn't playing good and was loosing the match... pathetic!

I disagree, imo Nicole has the better overall game but she is mentally weak weak weak. She is too tempermental, gets down on herself to early in matches, she's too emotional. She was challenging Serena at the AO then got anrgy and folded, she should have beaten Ana at Wimbldon but folded. I think she has the desrie to win but not the self-belief.

Nicole has a much better game. If she had Maria's gumption and mental strength, she would have had already won more then Maria. Watch both Nicole and Maria play Serena this year in the exact same type of match, and Nicole was overpowering Serena quite often, much more then Maria was able to, but got too nervous at crucial moments.

She should have won the first set of her Australian Open semi with Serena, and the second set of her Nasdaq quarterfinal with Serena. Maria though struggled just to scrape out 2 or 3 games vs Serena.

All Nicole needs is the mental strength and ability to play the big points as well as someone like Maria.

Yeah that's a "nice" little story, but Maria's grunting is by far not that loud on the court as it is on TV. All the microphones on the court just boost all the sounds.....and therefore Masha's grunts sound soooo loud. So it's absolutely not her fault. ;)

Oh I now what "baad things" you mean. RG: Sharapova-Schnyder right? But if you watch this scene exactly, you will see that Masha's service motion was already in progress when Schnyder put up her hand.......and you can't put up your hand when the service motion is already in progress....it's that simple......it's the rule. I'm pretty sure there is a vid of this scene on youtube.....at least I#ve already seen one there. So if you look up, you will see.....it's that obvious Masha isn't a cheater!!!! And if you ask me that "hand-putting up" scene was a bad try by Schnyder to ruin Maria's concentration during her service motion.

Well done........calling Maria "Shriekapova" or "Shutupova" is already so old fashioned and ridiculous. All of you critics pick up every single stuff (things that nobody is interested in) to run her down.

I don't like the Williams' sisters but I don't give them dorky nicknames......b/C it isn't worthy at all. And I mean look at them...already when I think of them hundrets of silly nicknames cross my mind;)

<Vaidisova> Her "groundies" are crap. Maria's powerful groundstrokes will kill her.
BTW I didn't know that Vaidisova possess an "overall game"........or is picking up balls from the ground already seen as overall game???????;)

It'll will be old fashioned and rediculous when she stops shrieking so annoyingly. I'm not picking up every single stuff to run her down. If no one else was interested, no one else would comment on it. But they do.

I like maria, with the mute on. She's tall and pretty and a hell of a fighter. In fact, if they do play, i'll be front row center in my living room, plasma firing and surround sound cranked at first and ending up muted, loving every minute of it. Tough to say for sure who is going to win, obviously Maria's favored, but i would love to see and NVaidisova take it to her. When (if) they do play, Nicole won't be picking up too many balls, but she will throw in more slices, drop shots and volleys than maria will.

I gotta agree with you on this one, Masha4evs. I couldn't believe how much flak everyone--including the high and mighty but often WRONG Martina Navratilova--gave sharapova for that incident. She was not only in her service motion, but her serve was actually over the net by the time Patty had her paw up. The chair made the right call there, and to say Sharapova was a poor sport for not forking over a point was just silly. Patty should have just played the point--the scream wasn't during HER serve. Plus she encouraged the crowd to hoot and boo after the ump's call, which was poor sportsmanship in my opinion.

Now the serving practice while her opponent was howling on the ground in agony? That was kinda tasteless.

Back to the Vaidisova/sharpova match-up: I agree that Nicole is the stronger and more powerful, but she'll still lose to sharapova 3 times out of 4 at majors until she gets her head together.

These pics are all fixed up.

You can tell they fixed her abs and enhanced her chest size. Vaidisova on the other hand.................. :) all NATURAL. And she's hotter.

Vaidisova is the bigger hitter, bigger server. Combine those two together on hardcout and you get why some people say she's better then Maria. She's essentially a female version of Marat Safin. Tall, Gorgeous, and an extremely talented player. However, both have the downfall of being mental headcases.

That's the truth. You only have to listen to the ball bounce before a serve to know it. When I play the sound I hear when I bounce it before a serve it's not that loud.

You left out 'extraordinarily bitter' in your assessment of Martina.

And I agree that Sharapova should win most of the time when these two play at Slams - but a NV win wouldn't be a huge shock.

I totally agree about Sharapova. But Vaidisova is young and could still mature as a player. I guess we just have to wait and see.

I am no fan of Sharapova but she is marching straight to that US OPEN final she is just too good. Vaidisova is a decent young player but I don't see the mental toughness yet to win a big match like this. We will see. I will be stunned if Sharapova does not make the US OPEN final.

More like her draw is that easy, not that "she is just so good". Lets put it into reality here. If she were on the other half she would never make the final. To have Henin, the Williams, the Serbs, who have all been kicking her behind all year in one half; and Maria with the other Russians in the other half, is a true true crime.

Nice to hear that;) At least there some objective tennis fans out there. Like I said...it wasn't Maria's fault at all.....it was just a cowardly try by Schnyder to get the crowd on her site. But unfortunately nobody cares about that. I can't believe why everybody tries to bladmouth Maria's achievements on/off court. Although it was obviously that Schnyder cheated, the crowd bood Maria. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shriekapova is ugly and her shrieks are manish, Serena and Venus will beat her manish ass down.

Oh my good that's the funniest and dorkiest stuff I've ever heard!!!!!! "Sharapova ugly".....oh yeah.....and the Williams' sisters are gorgeous and stunning princesses compared to Maria............you don't believe this , and I think you don't do it either:confused:
Man, i just say what's wrong with you Masha is a blonde 6'2'' goddess, who is obviously one of the best tennis players on tour, is grounded, has a great fashion sense, and has a great sense of humor. I mean she is for sure the greatest girl on the whole planet.
Her shrieks are first of all not that loud than those of the Williams' sisters, second the don't sound manish at all (I think you muddle up her grunting with those of the Williams's....yeah right.......those sound manish, terrible and bestial.) And third, Masha will kick their fat asses out, even if she has to play the entire match with her left hand;)

1st of all thanks for your support to follow up about Maria out of the open. No defence but the fact was that although Maria continued to battle, Maria was clearly gripping and couldn't find a way to regain her rhythm against the steady and ambitious Polish 18-year-old.

Actually she already done her best from losing on the 1st set and chasing 6-1 on 2nd set. Just luck not on her side on 3rd set :(. She just 20, still alot of years to come for her to win and grab all slams and titles ;).

C'mon Maria.........;).
