How much does a Calfskin grip weigh?
What is the weight of the TW Private label grip? The thick and thin as well as those narrow and wider ones. Can someone comment? Or TW did some measurement?
Thanks.
which leather grip is thickest, Volkl or Prince?
Leather grips can enhance the "feel" of a racquet in a number of ways. --The feel of the bevels for sure, but also the feel of the ball coming off the strings. Some leather grips can also add weight to the handle, rendering a more head-light balance. Here are some specs on grip weights and other items that may help you determine some variables that affect weight and balance:
Fairway Leather - 25g
Wilson Leather - 22g
Head Leather - 23g
Pacific leather -18g
Volkl Leather -30.4g
All of the above are untrimmed, straight from the package
Gamma Hi-Tech Perforated Replacement Grip - 19g/.67 oz [trimmed to fit]
Babolat "0" vibration dampener - 3.8g/.135 oz
Wilson Pro Feel vibration dampener - 2.5g/.090 oz
#10 rubber band - .7g/.025 oz
16g string in 18 X 20 pattern - 15.9g/.56 oz
Yonex Super Grap overwrap - 5.7g/.20 oz
Wilson Butt cap w/ removable window - 10g/.355 oz
Volkl Soft Butt Cap - 9.4g/.330 oz
Elasto Cross II - 2.3g/.082 oz.[entire contents less applicator]
I recently got two TW leather grips (the thinner one and the thicker one), and a Wilson leather grip. I put them all on (I have four of the same racquet), and within a half-hour I started getting three blisters on my racquet hand: one on the bottom digit of my ring finger, one on my base of my thumb, and one on the heel of my hand.
I find this amazing considering that this season I have been playing using the stock grips (Wilson Micro-Dry Touch) for months, hours at a time with no blisters.
Also, three fingers of my racquet hand felt a little numb, though this went away after several more more days of playing. I think I am going to go back to the Wilson Micro-Dry Touch grips. They provide nice cusioning, very good tackiness, fairly good feel for the bevels, good ridges and valleys, and no blisters.
Is leather worth it?

will using a leather grip would reduce my racquet´s power? i use three OG with no grip and my balls go off court ( and is not of bad technique, cause I have a pretty good OneHanded backhand and my shots go long). i was using before a synthetic grip and a OG and gives me good control. should I use leather or should I raise the string tension?
NO, adding weight to the racket increases power (on full stroke) - leather will add weight to the handle, so the power increase will not be big, thats it.
I thought if I add weight to the handle then swingweight will increase, that means that i will be able to hit harder, meaning that racquet control would raise. is that how it works? im really confused.
so, how much more weight is added after taking off the synthetic overgrip (Babolat syntec) and wrap a leather grip(Gamma leather)?
I have 2 more Wilson Pro OGs on top of the leather grip, because the grip size is a little smaller.
Total more weight added is about 20g?

Ok so a definite answer would be nice... what is the lightest consider
1. Leather grip?
2. Synthetic grip?
I have asked the same question many times. I have heard that leather ways 11g more than a typical synthetic, i have heard it weighs 14 g more, and i have heard that it weighs 16 g more. Though i don't know the specifics on which synthetics and which leather grips these people were using, i imagine that the variation occurs in those factors. Switching to a leather grip, depending on your racquet, can change your balance by as much as 4 pts HL. i have been told. I am about to switch to leather on my LM radical and hope that it does something for feel and balance.
I`m using Wilson true grip. My question is: If I get leather grip (Wilson) ,will it increase raquet weight or change balance?
It will effect both of the paramaters you have mentioned. Adding some weight to the hoop will restore the balance.
Here is the latest info for both 25mm wide TW Leather Grips:
25 mm x 1.3 mm = 32 grams
25 mm x 1.5 mm = 36 grams
These are for the full length.
I just wrapped a PK 5G (4 1/2") grip with a 25 x 1.5 TW leather grip (overlap so the grip is flat) and it added a heft 28 grams to the static weight. I only had a 4" piece remaining.
If you want to preserve the true grip size of your racquet, go with the thicker leather grip. You can still feels the bevels really well!
Vantage leather 24g, out of packet, no modification - plastic still on
does leather increase plowthrough?
Which leather grip provides the most cushion?
I was able to compare TW leather against Head Tour leather. The TW is a firmer and tackier feel. The Head Tour is a softer supple feed which I believe would provide more cushioning than the TW leather.
But if you are going to put an overgrip on, then the TW leather is a great candidate.
