I think Sampras would have preferred Federer as a rival. It would have been all hugs and kisses. There was a little bit of tension in that conversation - Andre was slightly confrontational, and Pete was a little bit nervous about that and just laughed it off.

"You played like a bonehead."
"Haha."

"My exciting style of play and your boring style."
"Yeah."

Although in the end, Pete said all he needed to say on the court.

I don't see a problem. Agassi has known Sampras since he was 9 years old, he's a year and 4 months older than Pete, Agassi has a right to talk like that to Pete, he doesn't have to treat him like he's never met him before and has to be false nice to him. Sampras took it in the good grace it was intentioned - they are just two guys after all and that's how guys talk to eachother.

In fact, if it was any other way than that, I would be very disapoointed. Pete was ribbing Agassi about Becker denying him the chance of beating Agassi at Wimbledon.

I find the nice stuff between Federer and Sampras a bit nauseating.

Common Superman1, you don't prefer superficial stuff do you?

Actually I was being sarcastic. I love how they talked to each other. They're friendly, but not TOO friendly - they are two men going after the same prize. I wish we saw more of that these days.

By the way, who was it exactly who won the 1999 US Open? And the 2000 Australian Open after that? :)

Well obbiously there is nothing Pete could do about the 1999 US Open as he couldn't play but Sampras was very confident about that tournament, judging by his comments on the youtube clip.

He definitely let the one in Australia escape his grasp, he looked like he had Agassi in the 4th set tiebreak.

But definitely a great rivalry with a bit of tension. Not too many rivalries like that today, I remember Sampras and Rafter didn't get on and there was an edge to their matches. In fact, most of the rivalries where there's tension now occur in the womens game. Hingis and the William Ssiters, Serena and Capriati etc. Ever since Henin defaulted in the 2006 Australian Open final, Mauresmo has hated her guts because she believes Henin stole her moment of glory after winning the first set 6-1. She sorted Henin out in the Wimbledon final but there is a real edge to their matches now - lets hope Amelie gets back to full fitness. There was aslo tension between Henin and Clijsters. Mauresmo doesn't care for Hingis much either after Hingis' comments at the 1999 Australian Open.

And now Sharapova has a fear of the Williams Sisters, must drive her dad potty.

I thought it was funny when Sampras took the taxi and asked for Trafalgar Square in an "English" accent.

LOL in the second part when Agassi gets on the plane he pulls a cat out of his bag?

And Agassi when they're playing on the street in London?

"You gotta sit down." That was mean! Hahaha.

I also liked how Pete ribbed Agassi about the loss to Becker at Wimbledon to get him back for Andre's comments about the French.

Geez, I guess they only have one hobby other than tennis: Pete golfs and Andre...does laundry?

Dont forget Henin and Serena. No love lost between them after "the hand" incident at the 2003 French Open. Serena's bitter sore loser speech after Justine thumped her in the U.S Open quarters, which was even extreme for her standards, is probably more understandable when you think of how she feels about Justine.

Man, Agassi was a cocky mofo.

Agassi: "Did you win to be number 1?"

Samp: "I beat Wheaton."

Agassi sarcastically: "Oh well that's worthy of getting to number 1."

Pretty bad considering he said it in front of a camera.

Haha. Well how about the "I deserve the French Open" comment. If you lose do you really deserve it?

The whole thing is filled with examples of Agassi being a pompous ass. Now I have to think that this was when Agassi was winning everything in sight and was number 1 in the world. Shortly after this he lost the USO to Sampras which ignited his freefall in the rankings. When he popped out the other end he seemed like a different person. Humbled by his time spent in the gutter.
