Hey everyone long time! How is the SF chapter holding up?
I tried reaching you to meet up with us this weekend. Hope everything is well. We are going to set up another meet in the next few weeks.
Off topic, but is it true that in Florida, the USTA rating is bit lower like USTA 5.0 guy in Florida would be rated USTA 4.5 or even 4.0 in Illinois or in Southern Cal. I met this guy from Boca Raton and he told me that he plays 4.5 or 5.0 leagues in florida and got to hit with him a bit and he would be rated a good 4.0 or low level 4.5 in Illinois or California.:???:
It really depends who you talk to from around the country. Moz states the mid atlantic has stronger 4.5's than Florida. Sup states the opposite. As for this guy you hit with who is a 5.0... I could tell you there ain't many, if any 5.0 leagues around. So he could have been stretching the truth.
A quick look at the USTA rankings right now revealed the following:
In the 30’s age group:
Florida has 5 in the top 20, and 23 in the top 100.
California has 1 in the top 20, and 14 in the top 100.
Illinois has zero in the top 20 and zero in the top 100.
In the 35’s age group:
Florida has 3 in the top 20, and 12 in the top 100.
California has 4 in the top 20, and 15 in the top 100.
Illinois has zero in the top 20 and two in the top 100.
In the 40's age group:
Florida has 4 in the top 20, and 14 in the top 100.
California has 9 in the top 20, and 36 in the top 100.
Illinois has zero in the top 20 and zero in the top 100.
The weakest of the 3 is without doubt Illinois. Florida is better in the 30's and 35's age group. California has a strangle hold on the 40's age group.
