Volkl C10 is not box beam.

Most of the top-of-the-line player's rackets, except for Fischer, Prince and Volkl to name a few.

And, more interestingly, why box beam for the top-of-the-line rackets?

From my experience, I'd say it's because box beams give you more feel.

That could be one reason.

But, on the contrary, the Volkls do not have box-beams and yet the feel is excellent. I think there could be something more to that.

Where's Racketdesign? Chime in, please ...

The box beam design is probably just that, design. Players racquets are designed this way to make them look more traditional.

they also have a certain feel in your left hand, on a 1HB, that is one of the things i notice most when hit a few with my friends APD and then mine, is the way the throat feels

I have found that box beams are better for flat first serves. I can never serve a flat, fast one with a rounded beam. The dunlop 200g series is more or less a box beam. The prince diablo mid also has a box beam.

so what is the difference between the box beam found on the 6.0 line and the others. It seems to be much more square shape than the others mentioned.

Tecnifibre - five box beams with the new xl
Babolat - three box beams plus the new limited edition
Head - three box beams with the new pro
Wislson - one box beam and one Sampras on the way

Babolat is perhaps unfairly typecast as 'detraditionaising' the player's racquet. It seems the traditional racquet shape is making a bit of a comeback.

I think it's that the 6.0 was from a time when most frames were like this. There really wasn't an emphasis on sloping the frame for aerodynamics or anything like that. Examples would be the Max 200G. The POG, Head Edge and Kennex frames had slightly rounded edges, but probably more for aethetics, I would certainly think not playability.
