I just tought it would be interesting to see where everyone plays!
you know, the courts you like to play at
how many courts you have, etc
i have nine of them by the way, recenttly more and more people have beenshwoing up to play, so its nice to have this many
the lonely court at the back is a basketball court, almost no one uses that :)

lol @ at the name of the high school BATTLE FIELD! pretty accurate name for a high school these days!

anyways here are mine, at my local uni two courts they recently have been repainted and stuff so they look a tad better

its a every day tyep fo HS, in the middle of the virginia suburbs, where that stuff goes down :-(
not too far from here, a kid got cought with like 6 shot guns in his locker, this was in a middle school
damm kid did not go through with it, or some of his buddies gave him up before he pulled it off
why cant kids just slugg it out like the good old days, nothing but fistacuffs, that way, you live to fight another day!!

anyway, on the courts i play, sometimes the deer come all the way to the fence while grazzing, they spook the hell out of my dog :), he goes with me all the time and i keep him on the inside of the 4 courts

are the blue courts, or rather near the blue courts, is that the indoor facility?
how many courts all together?

Haha well spotted!

Unfortunately, with the kind of weather we have here, no clay courts to be found. :(

The grey courts are faded HC, they've been repainted recently.

Cool thread.

These are my regular courts. This first is the set of hard courts at my old high school. They are well maintained and have windscreens on most sides. No backboards. They're used a fair amount, but there's always a couple courts free unless the high school is having matches there.

These are my favorite courts. They're in the park. You cant really make it out, but there are four clay courts above the four hard courts. The hard courts are not quite as well maintained as at the high school, so if we want hard court play, we dont really use the park unless its windy or matches are running at the high school. Where these courts shine is in the clay courts. They are very well maintained and again, surprisingly, almost always have a court or two free except during the late morning during a few weeks of our tourist season. I love these courts. Great wind protection from those trees, and I play on clay as a preference, luckily having them available right around the corner.

Finally, these are my off-season courts of choice. They're in the bubble to the left of the hard courts in this picture. I play on these once or twice a week during the off season and there are four in there. They have an artificial surface. Not really sure what type, but its the synthetic with a little bit of give. They are fun to play on. Have to drive a bit further to get to these.

san jacinto college north (where i learned to play and still play most of the time)

thats alot of courts for a highschool, the most ive seen is 10

and you are right, you seem to have plenty of options where you are
i myself prefer the high school ones, they are about 5 years old, so very new and clean
plus the lights let me play there until 10 at night at times
the public park near me usuto have 4, they cut them back to 2 and they are poorly kept, but still playable, i go there when it just rained, because the courts are slanted from left to right, so their is never any poddles :)

These are the courts I play at on occasion. It's a Tennis club that consists of 9 clay courts and 1 hard court. The clubhouse is like walking into the 1920's, it's as old fashioned as you can get. There are no TV's or anything technological. Also there is no actual parking lot, you park on the side of the road.

thats good stuff, you ever see wooden racquets being use there as well?

by the way, the birds eye view of your courts makes them look cool too

here are the courts i grew up playing in, back in the day
these courts are in South America, Cochabamba, Bolivia
all red clay courts, i use to come home, orange after paying on these :-D i was too little to really apreciate them entirely,
i mosttly went to the club my father and my grand father attended for the pool, i remember it had a cool slide of the diving boards, i was maybe 5
when i go visit the old country i swing by them sometimes, this is a major tennis club in Cochabamba, infact, its the only one i know off

This are the varsity courts at the west campus... where I play for most the school season. Ecept now there is one more court added on to the left end and two more below the courts on the right side...google earth is a little out dated ;-)

So you are from Houston? I will be there oct 4-13. I looked in google earth for courts around the hotel and those from rice university apparently are very close, I will be staying here:

yeah, its not free though. about $6 an hour. but some really good players go there so u should find somebody to hit with.

The first time I went there was about a few years ago and it was a men's drill on Monday which ran from 6pm-dark. I was the only person who was in my 20's, everyone else was at least 45 or older. So I obviously felt out of place.

I have seen some people use wooden racquets while wearing retro, early 1900's tennis apparel. Sometimes playing there feels like I transported to the past.

They don't even accept credit card payments.

these are some really nice courts, not so much the court itself but the location and what the scenery would look like
the second and third specially would be nice play at
the view from the third courts you posted must be something else, good stuff
but if the weather tempeature drops and or their is wind, that would put a damper on that :) still nice to play and look at the water

the rooftop courts, area little unsettling but would also feel like your playing ontop of the world :)

The high school I went to has really bad courts (huge cracks, weeds, no lights for night play, and a huge slope)...so bad in fact they closed them.

We have three swimming pools (obviously this picture was taken during the Fall or Winter time), eight hard courts to the left, and we actually have twelve Har-Tru Clay courts. This picture only shows eight, but they just added four more this spring to the right hand side in front of the water tower. :cool:

thats a nice complex, and the picture really shows them well

so when you wanna play on the clay courts, can you just take one of them or you gotta schedule them? i would imagine that thoes would be the ones that get filled up first
hard courts are nice to play in because of the way the ball behaves IMO very predictable, but the softer courts are nice because your joints dont get as beat up by the constant impact

Actually, trees next to tennis courts is not a good idea, because of:
* all the junk that falls from the branches
* the roots crack the surface on the court
* the shadows are uneven... it's tough to play on sunny days
* the branches cover some of the lights in the evening
* after rain, courts dry slower and uneven because of shadows

We actually have a chalk board on the front of the small clubhouse. You sign up for an open court, and put your start time, 1.5 hours later you potentially can be bumped. The only exception is league matches which we let the club know in advance (they actually take ALL of the different teams matches and have a calender that is posted in a window of the clubhouse), and they mark the courts in advance for the teams. It works OK, sometimes I think it would be nice to be able to make reservations, but other nearby clubs have problems with that as well. :confused:

At 45 years old I much prefer the Clay vs Hard. Our dues are about $500 annually, and that includes the swimming pool, and plenty of FREE Beer about a dozen times a summer at the pool! :shock:

Looks like you took that picture yourself from an airplane or something.
Har-tru courts are hard to find!
