There. Humanity is gone and now you have peace.

Wars are about resources. China has at least 20 percent of the world's population and 7 percent of the farmable land. It is foreseen that within 10 to 15 years China will not be able to feed its own people EVEN WITH MAXIMUM AVAILABLE GRAIN IMPORTS. Any predictions??

snip [It has been more than a century since Great Britain produced enough food to feed its people. Britons have been able to eat only because the country has concentrated its efforts on producing those things in which it has a comparative advantage, such as manufacturing, shipping, and financial services...], from "Basic Economics", Sowell, page 440-1.

My household isn't self-sufficient with food either. We have no garden, we buy 100% of the food we eat. And I'm not skinny. I predict that as China develops, obesity will be a bigger health problem than starvation.

All the more reason to bring our Western democratic ideals to the far east! Something has to curb their numbers...

We should work on getting them to adopt our habit of over-eating and shooting one another.

War Brings Happiness

As the saying goes "war brings prosperity". Just look what transpired after WWII, the US prospered as a direct result of the war which ended the depression. Japan and Germany were both rebuilt from the ground up modeling the US democratic system. Iraq is now under a democratic leadership which prides itself on equal rights and personal freedoms. So in the end the sound of gunfire means freedom is on the rise.

I feel China must be corrected towards forming a democratic nation by ways of forced intrusion. They must accept democratic ideals and christian values and beliefs or face harsh consequences such as the import and export of materials and harsh criticisms and consequences around the world. Judgment day is upon them.

Interesting thought. Kill everyone who doesn't think like us?

What if someone forces himself to your living room and tells you that he doesn't like the way you run your family and you should do as he say, otherwise he will kill each member of your family. This powerful man believes satanism is the best solution so you better become a satanist otherwise he will kill your dad or something.

Whew, I was terrified when I was reading this hypothetical. But, some of the terror was abated when I realized the antagonist was a satan worshiper! History tells me to be more fearful of Christians and Muslims.

^^I think quest was tongue-in-cheek with his thing about having a forced intrusion into China.

yeah! Forcing yourself on someone, even if she's a prostitute, is still rap£!

We should all respect China's sovereignty over her vagina!

Don't laugh, that's one damn good ANALogy!

We need a clear definition of terminology such as "we" and "us" in order to ensure broad and meaningful participation in the poll.

May peace prevail on earth
May peace be in our homes and countries
In these troubled times we live in
We will see the dark come light, oh
May peace prevail on earth tonight
In our lives.

May our missions be accomplished
May our deeds be won with joy
And we will thank the guardian deities
Thank the guardian spirit force, oh
May the ship of peace be on her course
Toward all shores.

And the sages make their statements
And the statesmen have their say
And we will learn that wisdom comes
From mistakes we've made upon the way, oh
May peace be here to stay
In our day.

We are gathered here for freedom
We are gathered here in might
To show our children the solutions
That come from peace and why it's right, oh
May peace prevail on Earth tonight
In our lives.

And the distant mountains beckon
And the skies will heed our cry
And space awaits the joy of mankind
As we ask the reasons why, oh
Yet peace is not so high
It lies inside.

Of every being there is vision
Each man and woman has a voice
If we can work together in harmony
We bring peace out from it's source, oh
Let all of us rejoice
And raise our voice.

For war is not the answer
It is not the strongest force
It's love that binds us all together
And guides the shape of histories course, oh
Let all of us rejoice
And raise our voice.

May peace prevail on earth
May peace be in our homes and countries
In these troubled times we live in
We will see the dark come light, oh
May peace prevail on earth tonight
In our lives.

The words "we" and "us" mean the nation of your citizenship.

May peace prevail on earth...
...May peace prevail on earth tonight
In our lives.

I don't recall that one from "Second Contribution". Is it from another album?

I voted for the 2nd one, but honestly ppl will never stop fighting. Humans always strive for greed; it will never go away. Weapons are more than just...weapons. The mind and words are a powerful weapon in itself. After all, it was the only thing Hitler needed to move Germany.

I am a firm believer in

Walk softly and carry a big stick.

America should have an overwhelming military capability. We should also have overwhelming resolve to only use it in defense of our country and possibly in conjunction with the international community to prevent mass murder.

The US should stand for freedom, human rights, and not force our views upon other nations. Bringing democracy to the world does not justify loss of american lives. There are a lot of cultures and countries that are not ready or suited for american style democracy.

GWB didn't walk softly and his stick was crooked. Boy did he screw up.

War is the way of the warrior. The only guide to redemption and stability is through war. Avenging our enemies cannot be solved solely through diplomatic relations but through brute force and an unrelenting ability to overcome obstacles of destruction.

He who walks behind the rows will suffer the ultimate sacrifice of death and destruction.

Great question. I say disarm. Why not? It's never been tried before and the other way obviously doesn't lead to peace so if everyone were to give it a shot maybe it would work.

Remember when Vietnam War protesters where chanting, "All we are saying, is give peace a chance."? If you read Churhill's memoirs about WWII, England tried that with Hitler. The Labor party felt that an arms race would bring about a war similiar to The Great War, but if they refused to arm themselves, that eventually, the Germans would see that they had nothing to fear, so would stop their own build up. People who disagreed were called 'scaremongers'. It's surprising how contemporary this discussion feels.
I thought the idea of being for peace didn't come around until the late 60s, and no previous generation had thought of it. So maybe the chant should be changed to "All we are saying, is give peace another chance." Peace might have been tried many other times before this, but I know of at least this one trial.

But when we try things, we might ask, "What if this doesn't work?" For example, if alcohol prohibition doesn't work, we can repeal the law. But if we allow ourselves to be unarmed and we wind up enslaved, that's a pretty big, "oops". My humble opinion, anyway. If I'm overlooking something, please let me know.

Actually, it's from two other albums.

The first time it appeared was on the 'Truth if it Kills' album. But Shawn did not like that album. As he said to me... "The a-hole producer wouldn't even let me play guitar on my own album. Imagine that! He insisted on playing the guitar himself. The entire album was done his way, not my way. I wasn't at all happy."
That was in 1994.
So Shawn had a legal embargo put on that album so that it could only be sold in the Canadian province where it was made, and nowhere else.

He has since re-recorded several of the songs from that album - 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' being one of them.
The re-recording appears on his 'No Category' album from 2002.
