Ana Ivanovic Fist Pump

I believe this threat was posted before, but I recently had opportunities to watch many matches Ana played. I've been her fan for a while and still am but for some reasons, her fist pump on each point she won really annoying. Is is just me or someone else would agree with me also? Thanks.

It's annoying for the sheer amount of time she keeps it up...

Ive not visited this forum for 4 months and yes , we discussed it to oblivion and even her hard core fans hate it. End of topic, you are correct.

She the best looking on tour--and yet her fist-pump turns me off big time. It is totally annoying.

I find it most annoying when she does nothing to win the point. I can understand a fist pump when yo smash a winner but when you just push it back over and over and your opponent makes an unforced error then the fist pump is very uncalled for. I feel the same about Maria's fist pump.

well, different players have different ways of keeping themselves positive and pumped up...so I duno. I find it a lot less annoying than sharapova's screams though.

I duno, I find it sorta cute. But then again, I don't watch Ana's matches a lot. So it's one of those things I see once in awhile. So yeah uh...doesn't get too bad for me.

I'm just saying
it could be worse.

Ditto, but me being a Ser and watching almost all of her matches and cheering for her - you can imagine how annoying it is when I can not stand to watch some of her matches because of the fist pumps ... and yes Im patriotic, but realistic at the same time .. ;)

NOt to sound sexist, but she needed something to distract her a bit from the pressures of tennis pro life and there goes Verdasco. now Lets see if he's going to pull stepanek on her or Berdych on her ( remember all the girls dating those two, safarova, vaidisova, just dissapeared ) or wil we have an alltogether different outcome ? ;)

Army and I have 1 steady job, 2 jobs per contract, a steady wife ;) and 4 times a week I play football, basketball, and two times tennis. But Ill always be here for the big ones .. do not doubt that nor my neverending love for the game .. ;)

Just to add, I am doing my examst to become more educated, I finished colledge but ammoving up a ladder and taking what it needs t finish magisterium. ;)

Agree - a lot to do for one guy if day is limited to 24 hours.

Well seems like it, but having in mind I live in Serbia, you can achieve all these things if you aproach them positivly and have enough energy to pull it off, and there's always going to be a question of priorities. Sometimes you just put some things aside in order to finish others which are more urgent at that moment, and then come back and pick up the pieces and make the most of it with the other thing ..

I am sure there are lots of guys doing a steady job and spending more time and effort than me. Two reasons, I like what I do, international trade as a steady and domestic marketing as a part time job ( just sign a contract and let your people control if it is being properly respected by our partners ), people at the army are very understanding about all of what I do ( I am a civil servant at the army - meaning I got a job from them since I am a pacifist and wanted to have nothing with weapons ) and so are the guys at my faculty, I get extra time if I need it, they reschedule my exams and so on. Girlfriend is only a backup and a help when needed so there you go. I doubt though Id manage to pull this off if I was 40.

fist pumps are always good to see and ANa's is no exception. i'd rather see fistpumps from an intense player than a zombie walking around.

even Ana's squeeky feet trick to distract the opponent's serve last year was entertaining :)

Poor technique: elbow too close to body, fist not properly clenched, upward thrust at uncomfortable oblique angle, no bicep definition, employed too frequently and predictably. Ivanovic's pump is the weakest part of her arsenal and the poorest on tour.

Suggestions: use closed stance/lunge, boxer-style fist, stronger bicep curl, forearm more horizontal, use only at critical junctures, with repetition or exclamation for emphasis.

same here. but for me it's not only her fist pump, it's also her taking too much time, her mouse-like shrieking, her game, ...

her excessive fist pumping is starting to affect her ball tosses.

annoying, indeed - only because the fist reminds me of the most annoying of all: shriekapova.

to me its a waste of energy, its more of a show for her opponent to show she is still fighting i guess it helps her but if she would put that fist pump into her game , she would be better off. Did you check that toss of the ball moving way to its right and had enless doubles. It was either behind her or way to the right that needs some looking at, it also seems she is to a step slow. TO be given such a hard time by her opponent just proves that she won't get far if she does i will be surprised. Some of her shots she didn't move onto the ball or get her feet going just swinging, but i have to give it too her when she gets her feet right, and her body right her shots are devastating, i hope she an get back to the play of 07/08

both maria sharapova and ana use the "close-chest" fist pump which I find attractive for a female. so, question, whose is cuter??

I hate it. Its so annoying and ugly and especially when she pumps her fist and shakes it many times..Makes me go crazy. But overall shes still pretty.
