BLUE GEAR hybrid? please help!

i love the string PRO SUPEX BLUE GEAR string in the 1.28mm gauge on my WILSON NPRO OPEN. it gives great spin and control. but like many other posters here on TW forums, i find the string lacks feel far beyond many other poly's.

so im thinking hybriding it with another string will give it more playability. im looking to soften up the stringbed but NOT to the point where the whole bed plays soft. i still want to MAINTAIN A CRISP RESPONSE OFF THE STRINGBED, just want a slightly more playable string in the cross.

so for hybrid ideas i was thinking of putting these strings in the crosses and playtesting them:

1. blue gear mains / ASHAWAY MONOGUT cross
2. blue gear mains / BABOLAT CONQUEST cross
3. blue gear mains / GOSEN OG MICRO SHEEP cross

i wanted to know your opinions and recieve some feedback as to HOW YOU THINK THESE HYBRIDS WOULD PLAY. it would be great if someone with this setup could reply in addition to other posters.

I recently put NXT crosses on my BG set up replacing my PSGD
i kind of prefer the PSGD i like the firmness of the stringbed. i say go with #3
also what tension are we looking at here what have you tried

Cant go wrong with gosen! I use in a hybrid with BA and love it.

well with full set blue gear ive tried 60 and 58 lbs. but i dont want to do a full set any lower than 55 lbs so i would rather just hybrid it.

i like PSGD in full set and hybrid too so i probably should add that to my list.

another question is how long does this hybrid keep its crisp response off the stringbed for you before it loses its pop?

so you are using OG micro sheep 16? and at which tension? because i also like BA full set because of the feel and control you get from it

I have used PSGD, Titan, Max Touch, Technifiber nrg as crosses. The Syn gut lasts a little longer and doesn't soften it up as much as a multi. I currently use Max Touch.

blue gear mains / ASHAWAY MONOGUT cross will be too hard--almost like the full BG

blue gear mains / BABOLAT CONQUEST cross will be plenty crisp, maybe a little too much

blue gear mains / GOSEN OG MICRO SHEEP cross will probably be crisp, but not too much

I would recommend that you start with Gosen Micro 17g, if it is too hard and not playable enough then go with a multi cross.

I highly suggest the BG/Gosen hybrid, that being said I have not tried the other two so I cannot offer a direct comparison. I use this combo in my n6.1 sticks and absolutely love it. It is the perfect balance of control, feel, crispness, power etc etc (for me anyway). I usually string the BG mains at 54 and the Gosen at 57 but I am thinking about upping it a pound or two next time just for the sake of experimentation

Also, the price per string job of the BG/Gosen is mighty hard to beat if you happen to be budget concious

you are so right. im definitely going to give that a try. i prefer a stiffer stringbed to i might up the tension from that as well

great idea man. i just need to get out there and try all 3 just so i know exactly what im looking for. but i will try the gosen first.

thats sounds like a really cool hybrid to try. im just unsure how it would play though. do you have a description you could run by me

like the racket you use, the tension, and the benifits you get from this setup?

i gotta say though...once you get this strung full set, it will feel pretty dead....but when you break them in, the playability is surprisingly good and the feel improves a little i guess because its a tad bit looser and more responsive
