It's worth saying if you haven't bought from him but have an extensive collection. Some people might get the impression that you're avoiding him for some reason.....
I haven't bought any rackets from joe sch (his name here on TTW), but I did buy a DVD. It was an easy transaction with great communication.
From what I've read in his posts here, he's another one of those guys with a great passion for the game, past and present......

I bothered replying because other top notch collectors who I trade with regularly claim he is a solid resource....reputation means a lot, and there are some stinkers out there....excuse me and my friend, Virginia, for thinking or even having thoughts.... Mr. Samsung!!!....it won't happen again...promise.....

joe- who is a 200G'aholic, is very interested in my new 200g, though i am holding onto it for now, like holding on a 1967 napa private stock lol..btw i perfectly agree with plasma, joe is a guy who has great passion for the game like plasma himself and many other top collectors out there...
I don't see the logic in that but, either way, I certainly hope the last part isn't directed at me. Don't like the inference at all.

I'm not a collector, just someone who would be interested in getting hold of a wooden racquet or two that is in good enough condition to play with. At our club I often have to hit with beginners or less capable players and it can be a bit dull. I just thought that playing with a wooden racquet might help to even things out a bit, wouldn't require me dumbing my game down as much as I currently have to (which messes up my game if I have the next set against stronger players), be a bit of a challenge and be fun. Trouble is , most of the wooden racquets I can get from op-shops/good will are in poor condition - either warped or weakened- so can't be strung and won't last very long. I know Joe has a good selection so thought I'd ask if anyone has dealt with him. Also hoping that Joe might drop by to answer a question or two.

AndrewD, I have a mountain of good wooden racquets in good order. Do you happen to live in Sydney? I'll be going there at the end of March for a few days to take part in the "Ken Rosewall Tennis Day" at the Museum (I'm a member). I'd be happy to let you have one cheap and it would be fun to meet up anyway. I already have one friend there, that I met here on the forums.

When you google wooden rackets, joe sch's site comes up among the top. It's a good resource for info, etc.......

Joe S. (woodtennis.com) is totally solid. i have bought several rackets from, and traded onewith, Joe. he is most definitely smarter than your average tennis junkie.

Bought a Head Vilas and Book of Tennis Rackets by Siegfried Kubler (a.k.a. "the modern Bible of tennis rackets") from him. Probably could've picked up the stick on 36ay for cheaper, but stick was in good shape, shipped promptly, and wrapped well. The book is outstanding, and the wrapping of it was stellar. Endgame - reputable dealer, and knows his sierra.

Naw, they are cake to string... just make sure you start on the correct side... as the string channels differ.
