Best insoles for tennis?

New Daddy

Are there insoles that are specialized or especially good for tennis?
Maybe something is wrong with my swing mechanics, but my insoles tend to wear out around the right big toe area.
It has led me to think that insoles with good cushion and added padding beneath the big toe would benefit my feet/knee joints.
Please chime in with your recommendations.

(Sales associates at a nearby City Sports shop strongly recommended "Superfeet" insoles. Feedbacks on this brand would be appreciated as well.)

I have the exact same problem, the insole under my right big toe area wears out long before the shoe losses its grip.

So I have the exact same question, but please do not say that Spenco are good because they are not, they are thick and heavy and are not suitable at all for tennis.

Well it is going to depend on what exactly you want but I find that Archmolds are terrific. They are fairly thick but are simply great IMO. Basically you put them in the oven at 200 for a couple minutes and then put them in your shoes and stand in the shoes barefoot for a few minutes on a hard surface. The soles mold to your foots contours. Once they are all cooled off the shoes just fit like a glove. My feet don't move around nearly as much with them and I don't have to tie the shoes as tight either.

Just one opinion FWIW.

Blade, Larry10is, and TennisDad all have the right idea. It's not really a matter of which insole is best for tennis, it's really a matter of which insole is best for your own feet.

This sounds a lot like the idea behind SOLE custom footbeds:

Edit: sorbothane sounds interesting as well.

Custom Orthotics are the way to go. Helped me a ton with Achilles tendonitis.

Check to see if they are covered by your health insurance. I didn't have to pay for mine; covered by insurance.
