Robert Kendrick sends personal video messages to Athletic DNA players

Robert Kendrick just sent a personal video message to my son welcoming him to the Athletic DNA team, even referencing some of my son's results and telling him to keep up the god work. We also heard that other ADNA Select kids got these messages too. How cool is that?

Big thanks to Robert Kendrick for taking the time to do that - impressive!

As cool as I think that is, Robert Kendrick, in my opinion, is a first-class jerk. I've balyboyed for him a couple times, and he's been completely disrespectful to his opponents and the chair.

We have exposed that company several times already. Its not a sponsorship, it is a total rip off. Give it a rest 'new user'.

No it was never exposed to me it looks like a legitimate offer i read the whole thread and most of it was you bashing athletic dna. i dont know if you have something against them or what. But i know kids sponsored by athletic DNA that say its great. So stop trolling threads.

Enjoy the company its pretty solid they sent out a personal trainer to work with my son for a 2 week period and have set up hits for him with some solid pro players (not saying it will happened for all) as for MR. Exposer he's disgruntled just let him be and continue to enjoy the ride.

What is so bad and rip-offish about Athletic DNA?
It's poly apparel with a reference to genetic information encoded on a double helix. Simple colors with a pretty cool logo.

Is it horribly overpriced? Like Nike? Is that what is so wrong?

BTW, Kendrick is an intense journeyman. HE will never be a Guga, a Rafter, an Edberg or a Roger. Like him or hate him, he's a gutsy player who overachieved. Nothing wrong with that.

It is a rip off. It is not a sponsorship. Its the old trick of playing to young guys egos by pretending they are getting 'sponsored'. You pay a monthly fee and sign a year contract. You get hurt, you quit tennis, you don't need more items, tough, you still pay.

You see everyone having the stuff because it is a scam.....young guys are stupid and egotistical and fall for the ploy....I know, I was a young, stupid, egotistical guy not all that long ago and fell for similiar marketing scams.

Ignore some posters on here as they are in with the company. The company "provided a personal trainer" because they knew Brad would be all over the board enticing other people's kids to get ripped off.

A true sponsorship is VERY exclusive and a straight deep discount with no monthly fees. It is provided to the very top boys as other kids will copy what they wear. It is not given to any boy with a pulse, who ever got a ranking point and whose parents have a credit card or bank account number to give the company. You are waaaay better off just buying the gear as needed and not signing their rip off contracts.

^^^^ how can you get ripped off ? if you're a kid any contract you sign is not a legal contract... how can they keep taking money from you? I don't see it..

unless you have a full sponsorship, which I believe there are 4-5 juniors who do (according to the article on tennisrecruiting.net and knowing one of them)..then it is no cost.

otherwise the "sponsorship' is not much different than any other company which still "charges" for their equipment...whether it is one lump charge vs. spread out over time. just a matter of personal choice and opinion what one wants to pay for.

if u are a kid and some pro sends you a personal email....kind of a neat thing...u need to put yourself in the 12 year old shoes.

To get sponsored by nike, addida, ect, you have to have a high ranking which requires you to fly around the country and spend "THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS" on hotels, flights, food, car rentals ect and collect points . And then they give a you a few "free" pairs of shorts shirts shoes ect.

Explain to the board how any sponsorship is free , read carefully "fly all around the country" who pays for that ? no sponsorship is free! But ADNA is a rip off? OK, let us know when you quit teaching at the Parks and Rec center

Hes a so-called coach who is jealous of that Brad guy ,think about it Brad never played tennis and raised a boy who now stands 6 foot tall at 13 yrs of age and has companies "still" sending personal trainers out to them and is arranging hits for his son with some of the top players in the world ,yes i believe if their in the top 100 that would count.

Anyways let him complain but anyone doing the math understands that all the travel, hotels, cars, ect. ads up, no one is sponsored for free.

When was the last time nike walk out to a local park saw a child with laughable skills and said "here all you want"? They don't you have to pay one way or another .

Ultimately he has a passion to be like Brad and have his tennis teaching ability he wants to get to that level that Brad guys at it a type of attraction that is buried deep in envy.

You obviously do not know anything about the ADNA Select program. The agreement calls for payment of clothes as you receive them, not fees, and you can cancel the agreement with 60 days notice. Also, the sponsorship program requires that you are top 500 in the nation or 40 in the section. These are not kids with a pulse, they are solid competitors.

if someone really is flying around the country in order to get a free pair of shorts or some racquets that is crazy!

if you are flying around the country because it is fun, make friends, meet families, play tennis, etc...then a sponsorship is just a "perk"...we'd still play the same tournaments whether the racquet is free or $179

back to the original intent of this thread...i think it is great that a pro player is out there supporting a bunch of juniors (regardless really of who the pro player is).

Its awesome that these guys at DNA are having the older players interact with the younger ,talk about firing up the young guys ,

ADNA is taking a nice approach bring a solid product, get involve with the players as much as possible have the older pros talking to the younger players coming up, not bad and in some cases personal training .

Whats tennisflorida bringing to the board some ok advise once and a great while , envy, spite, bitterness ,hatred ,stalking, fatal attraction

How about a video of any of your (TCF) players no more Hiding behind a screen name, "show a video of anyone your "currently" working with no more talk video video video video video video video video video !

Anything that requires a monthly payment is a SUBSCRIPTION, not an ENDORSEMENT.

TCF know how to tear apart the truth. Too bad you can't keep up with the semantics. Maybe you should go back to the college of hard knocks -- TCF could give you a lesson or two.

Many of the brands require a contract for any level of endorsement. It's the ones that require a monthly or periodic membership fee that are a clear FARSE. Either you're good enough or you're not -- buying your way in is just plain WRONG!!! It's a matter of ETHICS. Why can't you get that? That's the point (I interpret) TCF was trying to make.

Whether it's rankings, tournament entry, or nice clothes to wear.... of course people are going to get their nose bent out of shape if they can't BUY their way in.

The program is referred to as "membership marketing". Very similar to book clubs, cd clubs, magazine clubs. You pay a small membership fee up front, with that you get a certain number of books (in this case it's clothes). Then you are obligated to pay for a shipment every X number of months and pay for it over the course of a year.

Here is where it gets real good. Get some key people to "buy" into the company, in this case I would guess Kendrick, and some others very likely high profile coaches (so the Jr.s can be convinced that it's legit). This all helps get more members.

The best way to see if the company is actually doing anything worthwhile is to see how many tennis teams are sponsored by them (D1, D2, D3, NAIA, any high school) I would suspect none.

Competing with Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Under Armor, Quiksilver, even Champion is a form of financial suicide and the company knows that.

Bottom line; It's a clothing version of a book club thats all. I will give them a lot of credit for creative marketing. But the competition in this arena is just too stiff and they have no brand. The others all have branding in their favor.

My point is that Nike, Addidas ECT. only sponsors top ranked kids with free stuff , But to obtain that ranking you spend Thoundands of dollars to get that ranking therefore is it really free? NO ! Ive watched some parents be stupid enough to max credit cards out chasing points to have a high ranking so they can gets something (although they wont admit it).

nothings for free in this world you have to work for it unless you have obamamentality then you think every one owes you.

This thread is a little ridiculous with Brad posting under an assumed name and referring to himself in the third person and tennis coach florida assuming his usual role of criticizing others...has that guy ever said anything positive when someone posts a video of their kid ? These guys need to grow up, this is exactly what is wrong with junior tennis...parents and coaches with inflated egos trying to tear other people down.

i agree with you , thanx for being the parent who takes on the peace-keeper role it much needed on these threads where not only are the egos are inflated but the intellect is off the charts ,but TCF keeps coming to the battle of the minds unarmed. regards Gabe

Good to see your taking and "honest" approach to "cheating" on your exams.

As for hiding behind screen names ,what was your name again? obama definition ;one of little substance but who speaks loud.

Brad; I was a highly recruited D1 athlete, sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do! But lets pose this situation to you.

Deiton is playing for USC. The weekend before a big biology exam USC is playing Stanford. He's trained all week hard and has been dead tired. The coaches knowing he has an exam on Monday contact the biology teacher and make arraingements to get a copy of last years exam to "study" with.

1) Do you advise Deiton to use the "copy or not"?
2) When he gets to the exam much to his surprise it's the same test?

This is the reality that student / athletes face every day no matter the sport.

Try and figure out the answer to your own question ,I know Deitons dad has pulled him out of four different matches for just tapping his racket on the ground out of anger (not slamming, tapping ) 2 of those matches were finals and he was leading on the score board .

and he was made to go back and apologize to his opponents and the referee in one of the cases.

they try to live by a standard you and most of this board have no idea of.

but ultimately the answer would be "NOT" but by the integrity and standards they live by is the reason they are going for a pro career cause they have and understand what it takes anyone one can achieve a D1 status.

I have heard about this Athletic DNA. I finally want to get a cloth sponsor now and kind of think that I have been a little lazy with not getting one. I am ranked #1 in Socal boys 18s and top 5 in the nation. I would pretty much take any sponsor except for Kswiss. Does anyone have the contact info for Athletic DNA or other companies?

Contact your racket sponsor most of them manufacture clothes these days. Also remember your going to college so the school is going to provide your clothes anyway. I think your sticks, and your shoes are the most important, so stay focused on those companies.

he's correct and I know who he is.. some times the different sponsors' rep just assume because the guy is so good,he's already committed to a company.. ultimately the player has to approach the sponsors they are interested in.. some SoCal high seeded players don't get those nice sponsors they deserve.. the reps like to support the younger kids..IE: Wilson will give a full sponsorship to the 14 and under top 20 in the Nats, but you have to be top 10 in the 16 and 18 yrs old to get full sponsorship, which makes no sense to me at all..

I see, thanx for enlightening me, the system in Sweden workd very different, they are so hungry for talents that they will litterally track the players down offering contracts (if youre a really good junior)
