It got freakishly cold today in tropical land, so I have nothing better to do than to hold a little free for all deathmatch between the inexpensive multis.

Rules: no rule besides there is no Babolat or Technifibre... biting, crotch punching, pepper spray... everything goes... but of course please be civilized when calling another person an idiot

Also, while Weisscannon Explosiv! is in no way cheap, how can you not include something with the exclamation mark in its name!

Of the ones I've tried on your list, here is my ranking:

1) Mantis Comfort Synthetic
2) Head RIP Control
3) Pro Supex Maxim Touch
4) Isospeed Classic (thicker version of Pro)

Thought Forten Sweet was a syngut?
Forten Sweet is a synthetic gut which excels as a low cost soft cross string.

For value multi's in the price range in your list I much more prefer Babolat Addiction or Technifibre Multifeel for their higher power level, nicer pocket and general playability. Neither full job can beat a Prince Premier Softflex main and Forten Sweet cross in the mid priced multi range.

I was wondering why it was in the poll.

This is how I would rate them. You should probably add a couple of these to your poll. I need to pick up Mantis Comfort.

1. Alpha Gut
2. Tourna Irradiated
3. Mantis Power
4. Weiss Cannon Explosiv!
5. Tourna Quasi Gut
6. Isospeed Professional

I voted for Mantis Comfort Synthetic. I've never tried it, but it's the one on the list that I'd most like to try. My favorite, which didn't make the list, is Tecnifibre Multifeel.

You did say "no holds barred."

I'll be trying Multifeel in a few weeks. Love the Mantis but the durability is poor.

Never much cared for multi's myself, but two of them that have earned my respect for performance and durability are Rip Control and also Yonex 850 - sorry for going off the reservation, but that 850 was rather good when I tried it in a 2nd hand frame I picked up.

LOL. That's why these polls are so flawed. Not a criticism of you but I can't see how the original poster can get any meaningful response to the poll and unless everyone who has voted has tried all the multis in the list. Otherwise there will be too many people voting for a particular string simply because they've played with it because they thought it was 'good' (though not necessarily being the best all around string on the list). Same applies to popular strings with a wide distribution.

What about Quasi Gut and Alpha Gut 2k?

I was not trying to get a meaningful response. I was not trying to get anything. I take these polls as popularity contests and no more, thus made one with that in mind. Just be glad I avoided the "best" train kay :)

There were a lot of strings not included simply because the maximum number of slots available is 10... and also because I didn't know/remember about Alpha Gut and Quasi Gut :)

So, take it lightly or heavily, it's your choice. Though I do hope it will be of some assistance to the newcomers on TT.

Multifeel is a very nice string, however, if you tend to gravitate toward strings with a more "cushioned" response, you may not like Multifeel.

My k blade 98 came with stock strings that were wilson sensation and they felt pretty good. They are not the best strings but they have a good feel.

Yes Sensation could be considered a base string, a nice all around multi that you can compare others against. If you have the time and/or resource you should experiment though, there could be better values for the money for you.

I have had a chance to play with WC Explosiv and I prefer Mantis Power over it. The string I would like to try is Signum Pro Micronite.

Hmm I've just recently got both Mantis strings, so we'll see which one is better.

I wish I got Mantis Comfort to compare but TW got my order mixed up sending me Mantis Comfort Poly instead and now they are out of stock so guess I am going to have to wait it out.

Mikeler - WC Explosiv cost almost 50% more than Mantis Comfort so it better provide more durability.

mikeler,
Sadly, WC explosiv! has the worst durability ( 7 hours ) of any multi I've ever played with. However, it shines as an arm friendly string.

7 hours is better than 5 hours but not worth double the money. Thanks for the insight.

Not fair, you need a dislike for Maxim Touch then!

There is no way in shape or form that you will vote Maxim Touch as a "dislike string", after half of this year you recommend it and hype about it.
I remember you were waiting for the classic MT back on August like when I was waiting for the Han Solo spaceship on Christmas in 1982.

...just saying...;-)

Correction. I used it for 9 months this year. :) It is a good string. All I'm asking for is fairness with the math. There are some MT haters out there too.

What happened to Prince Premier LT Multi? This is my go to string right now. Comfortable on the arm, crisp string with good power.

Tried the Supex Maxim Touch and didn't like the power level at 57lbs. Maybe it was the string job, but I was disappointed.

I had it at 59 pounds. I did not realize how powerful the string was until I started trying out some of the other value multis.

So you didn't like the Prince Premier LT? Only thing about it is that it doesn't last really long. Maybe 8-10 hours of hard hitting before it losses its pop and crispness.

Prince Premier LT is not a cheap string and it doesn't last very long but the performance is good though.

Hmm, it's about $2.50 more than the Weisscannon Explosive, so maybe it's a little bit more expensive but gives good performance.

Any strings on the list that play as well as the Premier LT?

What do you play with?

I am using k gut 17 gauge now, which plays great
with my racket. But i was using prince premier lt,
which also plays very nice. I have used the weisscannon
explosive which had great control+comfort but lacked
good spin.

Any noticeable difference between the Premier LT and K(Gut)? The RSI string test was quite favorable.

I'm a bit confused, how come strings like Tourna Quasi Gut and Alphagut 2000 are missing. Aren't those multis that cost well under $10? I thought Forten Sweet was classified as a synthetic gut.
