Looking back in time, this video really shows just how much different federer and nadal are, making this rivalry the best in the history of the game. Look at the differences between the two, its amazing to see two of the best that ever played be polar opposites. I dont think you can script it any better.

I remember that final so well, what a rollercoaster. I felt so bad for Rafa at the end when he was hanging his head. But it was a great match, and you're right, they are very different. Too bad the pirate days are over.

Rafa cried a lot in the locker room after that match. Wimbledon was always the tournament that Nadal wanted to win more than any other, and he probably thought that he would never get a better chance of winning Wimbledon. In that fifth set, Federer was serving at 1-1 15-40 and 2-2 15-40 and he got out of both those games by holding serve. Federer didn't lose another game in the match after holding for 3-2.

I DEFINITELY did not expect him to win it twice after losing that final. In the post match interview on court I remember the woman said "Im sure you will come back and win this tournament someday" She may have even said next year.... Rafa was probably like yeah right :/ I just blew it.

Yeah, watching that post-match interview, it looks like Rafa is struggling to keep his composure. Roger said something like "I'm glad I have this trophy, before Rafa takes them all" :razz:

Sue Barker was the interviewer, by the way, she won the 1976 French Open.

Wow, good match this one. I just finished finals yesterday so...maybe I"ll watch the whole thing tonight!!!! XDDD

It's crazy that Nadal had 22 singles titles when he was just 21 years old. You never see any guys at that age with even 10 titles anymore....not even Delpo.

I just watched the end of the 07 final and post match ceremony and the end of the 08 final and post match ceremony. Very interesting they both are. Rafa was so happy when he went to his box and was walking all over the lil roof things in the VIP boxes lol. I paid more attention to Federer after the 08 final this time, he was really upset. I can see now why he was so bothered after the 09-AO, alot of it had to do with 08 Wimby.

They are really opposite, and have a great relationship, which should be a great example for all of us. And the oppositeness makes for an intriguing matchup. I personally enjoyed the FO final a lot. Was rooting for Federer, but no problem.
A bit off subject but: I think Federer had the right tactics when he came back to force the tiebreak in the second set: Controlled agression. But then he started to go for too much too early, imo.

Garbage.

Just cuz clothing sponsor Nike decided to push the contrast between the two (their main contrast is playing style and talkativeness not much else) to a cartoonish level doesn't mean they are that different

Fed isn't really a dandy and Nadal isn't really a rebel

nadal really messed up this final in the 5th set.

he had all the momentum but dropped his nuts in the 5th set.

nearly did it again in 2008 when nadal should have won in 4 sets.

They were back in 05-08, but recently Nadal has gotten more offensive like Federer was.
