It's a high risk shot which is used infrequently, so I couldn't answer the question. Too many good athletes on the circuit nowadays who can chase them down.

Murray uses it to good advantage but still he may get 2 out of 3 as winners, I don't like those odds at that level.

1) Federer
2) Djokovic
3) Murray

I disagree for Djokovic. For the most part of his career many of his drop shots were just ill-time and ill-advised. I think he just spams the shot until it works. It only seen the light of day recently when he is going on that streak because his ground game just became scary. If anything Nadal's dropper is much smarter although it hasn't been used much lately.

In my view Djok's shot is much improved - often in the past he used it when he was out of breath or in trouble, looking for a quick/cheap way to end the point.
Now he's usually using when he's in a good position in the rally and it's all the more effective for that.
I think he certainly overused it in the past but has got it pretty much spot on now.

You will be surprised, but Nalbandian is a great drop shotter. Stepanek uses them alot, but his aren't that good.

As inconsistent as Gulbis is, his drop shot is his best and most consistent shot.
And my serve is my best and most consistent shot. Does that mean I serve better than Federer or Karlovic? It doesn't matter if it's their best shot (which is pretty pathetic that a touch shot used rarely is your best shot).

its a hard shot to judge objectively. that Dolgo dropper is insane, but drop shot is usually most effective when played at the correct time, not necessarily the quality of the shot.

All I know is Richard Gasquet has a prtety one.

I usually like to make fun of the hype Gulbis receives in this forum, to me is already one of TT's running gags. But the guy can produce some breathtaking droppers.

Novak has been infamous in this respect, but during this crazy GOAT year of his, Nole's dropshot has been a bona fide weapon too.

Fed's are good, too.

I think Nadal has the best drop shots...

Seeing those Dolgopolov shots vs Nadal it reminds you how amazing that guy will be when he matures a bit more and if he can temper all that talent.

current players...effectiveness-wise --> Roger and Andy.
Nole is just wasting (still) too many of them...
