IG Speed 300?

I would have demoed the 315 instead of the 300 because it is closer to the 11.5 weight of my Dunlop, but the extra .2 inches scared me away. I've always heard bad things about extended racquets. How much different does it play because of the extra length?

You don't even notice the extra .2 inch.

JackB1

G.O.A.T.
Agreed 100%

One other thing...

all racquets can easily go .20 " longer or shorter just based on the
tension they are strung. Lower the tension on your mains and raise it on your crosses and your racquet will be be longer and vice versa. I put my
Speed 315 down next to a bunch of "standard" racquets and you would
never know the difference.

Try the IG Speed 315. I also demo'd the 300 and hated it, but I LOOOOVE the 315. Perfect swingweight, plowthru, power with control.
Jack, I'm planning to give the IGS315 a demo but I was a little surprised to read comments that it is underpowered and it was hard to get depth on groundstrokes. Criticisms of its torsional stability, I understand as Heads - with their round hoops - sometimes suffer this condition. But with a 100" head, a little extra length and not being overly flexy, I didn't expect to hear the IG Speed was found wanting in the power department.

I know you like this racquet - have you made any modifications to it to make it click for you?

The 315 has above average power compared to other "player" like frames. I would only consider it underpowered when comparing it to PD, APD, and other "tweener" frames.
So I guess I would call it a high powered players racquet or a low powered tweener...hope that helps.

How is possible that IG Elite version have higher swing weight compare to IG 300 version which is heavier (according to TW spec)?

I have not found the Speed 315 underpowered or unstable at all. It's not a overly powerful racquet, but middle of the road IMO. Similar to a Radical MP.
And no, I didn't make any mods whatsoever...the racquet in stock form is perfect. I love the "315" weight, as I always find "295 or 300" racquets too light and 325 too heavy.

The Elite has a much thicker beam, which makes the racquet heavier.

Also, static weight doesn't always equal swingweight.

Hey cayzi

Are you still deciding between the two?

If so then I can answer questions - the IG300 low swingweight translates as a little less pop. It still has it, just not as much as the Elite.

The Elite has more oomph but the racquet feels very light.

I think you might prefer (coming from a TF) the IG300. Great frame indeed.

(ps. I have gone back to my old racquet for right now though)

Thanks for replay!!!

I think I will try (buy) IG300. My first test of this racket will be today. I hope that I will not regret buying this.

Elite is out because of lower weight despite having more swing weight. Since there are more positive review on IG300 I choice to buy this one.

Since I had problems with TF 320 racket on long term I am a little worried about weight factor here. IG 315 is 5g lighter and even lower SW weight but combination ob both can still bring me in the same position.

Regarding IG 315 (16x19) version I will demo it after hitting with IG300 version and see. I can still customize IG300 version quite easy to get desire SW.
If I like 315 out-of-the-box I will be selling IG300 then. But lets give a chance to IG 300 first. ;)

Anyway I am still interested to read what other things about IG300 vs. 315 vs. Elite.

Thanks all for help!

I will try to report my findings here after a buying and testing it.

I think the IG300 is a little unique and has generated some interest therefore.

Less the runt of the litter, more the devilishly good mutant offspring of a player's racq, a tweener, and lighter fem racquets (oh where is the Gypsy Rose).

Sorry... the IG300 has Speed characteristics (wide spinny hoop), player racq's thin beam, tweener 100 sq in, but then smallish sweetspot, and lower power, so you have to hit out to gain traction.

It just lacks a little something. Am on the sidelines with it. I thing strings might make the crucial difference...

Have you got a setup in mind? I absolutely enjoy the new way of stringing poly in the mains and cheap syn gut crosses. Works for me.You get the kaboom spin of the poly with the feel and touch of the softer synthetic gut.

(ps. my old racs are kTour cut down to standard length 27, so I do best with a light control racq.)

Btw I think the Elite doesn't deliver like the IG300...

At least the IG300 when you get the bat speed up definitely delivers amazing spin and nasty accuracy.

The Elite lacks definition and feels vague and wavy - I just cannot really feel it there in my hand, v weird.

Reading all this I got a feeling that you are not happy with it and that you propose something else to try. Like 315 (16x19) version of speed?

Did you try that?

I would try a livelier string in the mains, like a nat gut or multi and go with syngut or copoly crosses. It will give you more power.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Great feel, spin and accuracy and a good amount of pop (although that will depend on strings/tension). The demo I hit with came strung with different mains/crosses and I didnt think to write down what was used... had black/orange strings in the demo. :p

Its a very good racquet.

Yup, IG SPeed MP 300.

IG 300 just feels great after 1 hour session. I will try it a little bit more in next days.

But for know I am quite impressed. It feels solid and nice feel and that sound when hitting. Amazing.

I wounder how 315 would perform now. I just do not now what to try or buy. 16x19 or 18x20. I got some response from local players that 18x20 is way better performer. Will see.

Maybe 315 would be to much for me anyway.

There is no "better" between the 18x20 and 16x19. It's just personal preference. The 315 is pretty low powered and the 18x20 would be for
people who always swing long and hard and need more control.

I would stick with the 300 for a while and the only issue you would have would that it was too light, but you can always add weight to it if you want.

Just fully agree with JackB1, keep the 300 and in case, after several hours you find it too light, add a bit of lead, you can't be wrong. It is not only a question of power, I find the 300 to be more stable than the 16x19 (or 315). The 18x20 is just something too different.

As I already said I tried IG300 and it is really great. Stable, fresh, my serve is like day and night comparing with TF 295.

What I notice is (or maybe my arm can handle more) is that using racket like 295 and 300g do not feel so heavy in hand anymore. It feels light.

I am back in tennis business (played 10 years ago) and in meanwhile I was totally in badminton world when holding tennis racket all felt really heavy. But now I do have a feeling that I could handle more weight. What I am not sure is how this extra weight would impact my swing speed, swing technique and more body work I assume.

You have to try a heavier racquet and see if you can still swing it comfortably for an entire match. Best way to test is serve. Also if you are "late" on a lot of balls. You will know when it's too heavy. It will feel like a lot of work after an hour or so.

If the 300 feels "too light" for you, then add some lead tape a little at a time to the hoop and see if that makes it feel better. Start with 4 inches at 3/9 o'clock. If that still feels too light add another 2" at 12 o'clock.

Has anyone else her compared the IG Speed 300 to the 315 16x19? Are there any noticeable differences besides weight? If anyone wants to swap their 300 for my 315, let me know. I would like to playtest one for a while and see for myself.

I have hit with both and went for the 315 (16X19) The spec's are different:
Head Size: Same
Length: (315) 27.20in (300)27.00in
Weight (315)11.60oz / 329g (300) 11.10oz / 315g
Balance Point (315) 6pts HL (300) 3pts HL
Swing Weight 320/308
Frame Stiffness 65/60

For me I liked the added weight, and being more HL. Though that could be fixed with lead. At a stiffness of 65 it didn't play that stiff imo. Have fun in your play testings. I am still experminting with strings to find what works best for me.

Which did u think had more power?

I have my 315 strung with nat gut/copoly at 54/51. I think this frame needs a soft lively string.
Agree, I gave tried ALU/NRG, RPM/NRG at 50/52, NRG/ALU all at 52/50 and a full set of NRG at 59. The full set of NRG is very lively but poor duarability. Still hitting with the NRG/ALU which isn't bad. Though I am stringing at a lower tension than you. As far as more power I think the 300 did as it has more flex. Though I didn't have an issue generating power with the 315.

Jack on my IG300 are OTB strings (black one) and racket feels very lively compare to FT 295.

I am more and more impressed how good is currently IG 300 for me. Must test and play more!

Still interested to try this one: IG 315 (16x19), Prince Exo Tour Team and Exo Tour (16x19).

Hello all!

What I can learn from that game - see below?

I had a tennis session this week and I tried this racket:
Wilson K Factor KSix-One Team

If I just look at the specification itself I notice that racket is lighter than my IG300 and have more SW. What happen on cort is that my wrist start to hurt quite soon when we switch a rackets.
After a few points in the game I was not able to handle this racket. Feel muted to me and with no feeling at all compare IG300 and pain in wrist stopped me to swing as I do it with IG300.

I did not try to put some extra weight on IG300. But still sometimes I have a feeling that I could handle more weight racket but since I tested TF 320 and this Wilson I am starting to wonder what is most imported to me: weight or SW and HL vs. HH.

Regards

Hi

I have a friend with the 6.1 Team, and have hit with it. You're right it has a little more SW and is a muted BLX like they all are.

The IG300 has more feel, more definition, more bite.

You can get a wrist pain from swapping any racquets. Just swapping means there are different stresses. Quite often strings play a major role too so it the 6.1 Team may have had poly in it or something like that.

I wouldn't be adding weight to the IG300 is you think the Team's static weight was affecting you. However I would guess that it would be more a balance issue that might cause the pain rather than weight because these are fairly (historically) light racquets we are using here. It may be a technique issue.

Don't go swapping racquets too much and settle into a pattern with the IG300 then figure out if you need add weight.

HTH!

I thought that here is more question of SW factor since Tour Team weight less than IG 300 (289 vs. 300g).

I clearly felt more weight when swing with KSix-One Team compare to IG 300. But regardless of this IG 300 felt very stable and solid.

One more question. IG 300 is 100 inch and strings are 16x19. If you look at the racket the strings on left and right side of the head are quite apart. Does this in any way impact on performance. It looks quite strange also because Head Speed head is oval shape.

Thanks

I think you are overthinking things too much. If the racquet works for you (which it sounds like it does) than just enjoy it and think about winning your next match or playing strategies. JMHO.

In conclusion, I do think this racquet is great for players looking for a more oriented control stick without sacrifying power and being confortable as well. A little bit of lead in the hoop would help get it more stable (this what I am going to do on the one I just bought yesterday night!). Will tell you more once I have hitted with the new setup.[/QUOTE]

I completely agree with you. I used a six one tour BLX for the past year but i like this racket a lot. The only thing this racket isnt good for is returning a good serve, it just wont cut it. So lead tape deffinately seems like something i am interested in doing

Hi guys.

Can anyone compare IG SPEED 300 to Wilson Blade 98? I am using the Wilson stick, but lately I have shoulder problems :( I think it might be because the Blade is so stiff, so I am curious if this IG SPEED 300 is better in this way?

Thank you for any replies.

I've hit with both. I prefer the weight balance of the BLX Blade 98, but the Speed 300 is right on par power wise (maybe a tad more depending on strings), has more spin because of the more open string pattern and is a lighter stick. Its also going to be more arm friendly for you due to more dampening. I thought it was a very comfy racquet with good pop and control and nice spin. I really like both of these racquets, I dont think you can go wrong with the speed 300 but it does have a little different feel than the Blade. Can you demo one?

Im still undecided Jack :???:

I'll hit with a few of the top sticks on my list with some of my usual playing partners and see what they think. The BLX Blade 98 seemed to be a good all around stick, but it is a little stiff.

Im trying to narrow down this list :p

BLX Blade 98
IG Instinct MP
IG Speed MP 300
EXO3 Tour Team 100

I also really liked the Volkl x10, but I dont know if it will be good enough power-wise... Im not sure what it was strung at but if I can squeeze a bit more power out of it, it could make for an excellent racquet as well. Swung lighter than its specs and had a nice feel/balance to it.

Your x8 looks interesting as well. They dont have them around here to demo... I may just suck it up and do one more demo round and include it...
Have you swung the BLX Blade 98? I wonder how youd compare the feel/balance of the two...

The IG Instinct is a really nice frame and does alot of things really well- looks great too ! You would definitely need to lead it up though. Its really light. Weighs in at 10.9oz but has a really low 303 SW. I think it would be much better bumped up around the 320 range, but hey that just means its very customizeable. The frame itself was pretty stable. You should give it a crack. Just be sure to stock up on the lead tape ;)
