Gave in to the R-holism today, you could say I full on relapsed. I'm not proud of it
Long story short, it was a cold and wet day, the clay was playing like mud and the balls felt heavy and slow.
I wasn't getting good penetration with the PPro and the slower conditions were forcing me to go for too much and to miss.
So, on a changeover, I innocently picked up my old
n6.1 95, the one I kept and didn't sell...........
Boom, it was effortless power, efortless plow, effortless control. I was suddenly hitting right through a dogged opponent who, on a normal day, gets everything back, but on this slow, wet court, was getting to everything with enough time to turn the tide and dictate.
The old 6.1 felt magical, like a trusted friend that would never let you down. It felt like it had my back, no matter what, like I could just swat at the ball like a bothersome fly and the 6.1 would just effortlessly and utterly destroy it.
Anyway, I was going to restring the 6.1 tonight, with some fresh B5E, and then take it out again tomorrow. Then I stopped and decided not to.
The conditions absolutely favored the 6.1. Having all the time in the world meant never being rushed. Also, I felt like Sod out there, the slow conditions meant I could just load up and fire at will.
I know that in faster conditions or on a hardcourt, where the PPro has been shining lately, I'd start feeling rushed with the 6.1, especially on my backhand........or not, who knows, in fact, I don't even remember why I stopped playing with the 6.1's.
Either way, I'm still hell bent on trying to add more plow to the PPro. My conditioning has improved tremendously over the past 3 months, and I can easily add more weight without sacrificing RHS.
I'm just waiting on my second PPro to come in, should be soon now that the postal strike is over. Once my second stick comes in I'll start experimenting. Only way to know if a mod works is to go head to head with the stock, unmodified PPro.
Well, I guess once a R-holic, always a R-holic.
Good night lads
