I smell a setup here. Reminds me when I used to play the local Jeff Davis league. I played this one guy and was trying to do some scouting on the league leader. He told me they played tennis in college together and NOT to hit it to this guy's backhand. So I played the guy and fed him mostly forehands the 1st set and got bageled. Once I started going more to his backhand the next set was a tight battle that I still ended up losing.

Of course I'm joking. The last few times that we played he whooped my asss with his "mistakeless" forehand. Didn't matter if I hit an awsome shot, it would come back a winner.

Hmmm, that's quite unusual because when I hit an awesome shot the ball is not coming back for sure! ;)

Got in 1 set plus 1 marathon deuce game with Mr. Coyfish who is definitely a 4.5 player now. Last time we played, I'd say he was a 4.0.

Goran, his dog, Bob and the radar gun showed up just as it started raining. I swear it only rained on the courts and nowhere else in Orlando.

Yeah just enough to ruin our game :(. Was a fun set though.

We'll see how the Gator handles that Coyfish serve tomorrow since he is a much better returner than me. :)

Supposed to be play the Gator this PM but storms are already forming so I'm not real hopeful.

yeah Gators returns are scarry, I did not expect that of Gator when we played. Better I was serving better he was returning frustrated me to go for lines at which point he did not have to return anymore as I was double faulting my self out of the match :)

That is what a good returner can do to you. They get you so pissed off at watching them blast returns by you that you would rather double fault than see it happen over and over again. :)

That book is awesome. So is the new Rafa one IMO.

BobFL, question : I have been back with my apdgt with the 7Gs still coming out of the bag as well. My wrist seems to love lighter sticks, especially on serve. I was curious if you hit with the Bio 500T. Is it close to the same as the adpgt, except even lighter and possibly more power and spin? I will probably grab a demo, but you know your Dunlops so I had to ask.

I'm going to try the plus apdgt as well since the7G is a plus and is real nice to have that extra .5.

Hey 2P :)

Yes, I had a very brief close encounter with BM500T. Firstly I don't see many similarities between 500T and APD. 500T has less spin than APD and it does suit flat/er hitting style. APD does not. APD feels clunky whilst 500T was like an extension of my arm. Power level are similar but I would give an edge to APD. 500T is much more whippable. One thing that I would like to emphesise here as a major problem for me is slice. I had so much trouble to hit slice with 500T. I have tried everything and I failed. I don't know, maybe it was me but I have never had that kind of an issue. The dwell time is low and string pattern is very open - maybe that's the reason. I don't know how important slice is in your game so this goes in fwiw category :) One more thing - apd creates much heavier ball.

I did invest in Winning Ugly by brad gilbert and he is absolutely genius genius i tell ya

Love that book, although I learned a lot of his tips just through match experience.

What makes Rafa's book so good?

PP and slice mix like oil and water. :)

Bob..awesome..you just saved me some time. I really like the APD and what you are saying makes sense. I have no idea why TW would rate a racquet with such a low SW and static weight at medium power and the big hitting APD at low/medium. That makes no sense to me at all.

I actually have been slicing a lot more lately. I think the 7G addicted me to it because it is unreal for that shot. The APD is OK for that, but I am hoping the plus gives me back some of that leverage. I did get dialed in with the slice a lot more in the few times I have hit the past 2 weeks. The 7G is just so easy that it spoils you for that shot.

I believe driving slice is better suited for closed pattern sticks, which explains your issues with the 500T.

The rafa book is excellent because he describes his mindset in matches..talks about tennis in a way that makes sense to me. Tells how he attacks Federer and likes to "break his will" with inside out forehands. It's really cool stuff to read about.

My favorite Rafa quote was when a reporter asked him after a loss something like "At what point did you feel like you were going to lose this match?". The GOAT answer was "After I lost the last point." Just shows he really never gives up until it is over.

You guys realize that he hasn't written a single word in that book? Professionals did that for him and made it sound good. This is nothing unusual tho. It is how things work in the publishing industry.

Yes I know that but I can also tell that what is being said, especially the mental state..etc is from his perspective and I liked reading it.

Taking 1 point a time is so tough..he has to control his mind to focus on the point being played and that's it..we should all do that, but it is very difficult sometimes.

Played the 09/10 Club champ this morning. I came back from a break down 3 times in the 2nd set and got up 6-3 in the TB before "the choke". Ugh, getting sick of this!!!

Played 3 sets of singles today and 1 set of doubles. That is the most tennis I've played in a single session in a long time.

Has anyone here ever been at the US Open? I swear next year I'll be there. I'm gonna start to save money now because I will be in the lowest box. Go big or go home lol

I'm saving up money to do all the Grand Slams in 1 year. I think I'll have enough in 20 years.

W is a monster cost wise. My friend was there and he said it was super expensive. To put it in perspective - his father owns several hotels and one resort lol

I am doing Biscayne next year now that a family member lives 1 mile from the court..lol.

But I also really want a few days at the USO. It is too awesome. I have never watched so many matches from 1 grand slam as I have this USO.

I may try and get down there too this year. Would be cool to setup a hit with the South Florida Chapter while down there.
