I think Tomic is a great part of the future of tennis...but I don't know if he will be a dominate figure. I see a lot of Murrays game in him...and we see how well Murray has done so far at the majors?
No disrespect to Murray's game, but I don't know if a pusher style of player can last year after year with todays playing style.

Any style will triumph given that player is a true champion. Tomic hasn't prove that he's a true champion yet. Only time will tell.

Very instinctively sound but, like many young players, he's gotta work on his consistency and beef up the weapons so when he does run into trouble he can work a little less to dig out of it.

I like his game, it's very fluid looking and he is capable to hitting big though most of the time he's happy to just put enough on the ball for the opponent to have trouble doing anything good with it. He can play all areas of the court which actually seems to be coming back with the likes of Harrison and Raonic. Bernard's definitely a player for the future.
I see him like Dolgo, who's also got an eclectic game. Flashes of genuis, and some awesome play, but both need more discipline.

I hope so. He is an exciting one to watch, definitely not the cookie-cutter game that are common among his generation of players.

so, does that mean you are in your twenties, like Harrison and Raonic, or you turned 19 a few weeks ago, like Tomic?
People need to stop grouping those three (with Dimitrov and Dolgo as well), Tomic is 2 - 4 years younger than those guys, ask yourself, where were they when they were just 19?

I don't like this guy. I'd rather root for Raonic, who I met already or Harrison. Dmitrov might be too small to get to top 5 (i might be wrong--might have grown by now since I saw him last)

Murray is a much better athlete but has far less talent...

IM 21.....so as I get older into my 30's I would be able to see their career from their teens to retirement.
I know Raonic is 21....Tomic is 18 or 19, Dolgo is 22, DImitrov is 19, and Harrison is 18 or 19!

Y'know, I agree with you about the athletic ability and natural talent, never thought of it like that.
He has the flair that Murray lacks but will he be as successful? Time will tell.

Dimitrov is the same height and weighs 3 kg less than the current number 1 in the world, so yeah.
Tomic can hit pretty hard when he wants to for a pusher.

I looked at Raonic too and like his serve, but I dont like his anatomy as a top player. I hope he can succeed but I doubt he will do better than Tomic or Sock.
Not sure about Harrison. The other 3 mentioned above appear to be more mature at the same age. I want to see more of his matches and see if anything changes. He shows good potential

Just thinking about what Djokovic said after the Wimbledon game about how unpredictable Tomic is. The same goes for Dolgopolov and he will probably also do great in the years to come. Is more variation and unpredictability the next step tennis will take in terms of evolution?

I kind of hope so.
I agree btw, Tomic has class about his game and effortless power when he decides to use it. His slice is already excellent.

Well he's already got some catching up to do. By the exact same age as Tomic, Murray had already appeared in two ATP finals and won one of them. He was already a top 20 player by the age of 19 and a half.

I think he has got the talent and i think he slices well too..which keeps oposition at bay..specially in djoko's match at wimbly.His slices really gave djoko a lot of trouble..

Just have to laugh at the posters recent turn of opinion now tomics had some success oncourt. 2-4 years back they were bashing him mercilessly.
The kid has been court smart since winning eddie herrs. I watched him person from 1 metre away at 12-13yrs 5.2" , tactically ripping apart bigger stronger and older players in 16's nationals, who then went on to play current d1.
A growth spurt made him gangly and obliviously took him for him to adapt into his new body.
He's ready to advance into top 30, maybe even 20 next year.

Not relevant in todays physical game, well known that male juniors are taking longer to mature and thus transitioning into top 100 later.

IMO Raonic is the one to watch. Never saw him play until last night TC replayed the match against Roddick. What a serve and forehand. Wow.
Reminds me alot of a young Sampras. If he can build his consistency and game smarts he'll be top 5.

I saw that match Milos vs Roddick. And that is a big boy with a monster serve. Alot of people are going to have problems with that kind of power.He also did remind me of Sampras as well.
